Our pipe clamps come with 3 different size Turnbuckles and the capabilities are
listed below.
!
Clamp sizes 4” through 8”
The turnbuckles will give you a 5,200 lbs. pushing & pulling force. (safe working load;
safety factor 5:1) | The jack screws will give you close to 1,000 lbs of high-low
adjustment with 7 lbs. torque.
!
Clamp sizes 10” through 24”
The turnbuckle will give you a 10,000 lbs. pushing & pulling force. (safe working load;
safety factor 5:1) | The jack screws will give you close to 3,500 lbs of high-low
adjustment with 12 lbs. torque.

Clamp sizes 30” & above
The turnbuckle will give you a 15,200 lbs. pushing & pulling force. (safe working load;
safety factor 5:1) | The jack screws will give you close to 3,500 lbs of high-low
adjustment with 12 lbs. torque.

3. TOP LINER PIPE CLAMP INSTRUCTIONS
!
1.) Be sure to watch this 5 min. video for basic instructions: http://www.youtube.com/

2.) ONLY use the wrenches supplied to work the clamp. No cheater bars or hammers.
These will damage the clamp.
!
2.) Before placing the clamp on the pipe, make sure all the jack bolts (on top of the
turnbuckles) are backed off and disengaged.
!
3.) Run the turnbuckles out a little bit and balance all 4 turnbuckles so they're about the
same.
!
4.) FIRST STEP: Place the clamp on the pipe with the pipe joint approximately
centered with the middle of the turnbuckles.
!
5.) Clamp one side of the ring by tightening the eye bolt and then secure the second
ring. Make sure the ring is square on the pipe.
!
6.) SECOND STEP: is to set the gap close to where you want it by engaging the
turnbuckles to pull or push the pipe. Work all 4 turnbuckles together. A little bit on one
then move to the next turnbuckle and so forth until you have the gap close.
!
7.) THIRD STEP: is begin adjusting your high/low. Pick 2 turnbuckles side by side and
work to get the O.D. aligned right underneath the turnbuckle. You accomplish this by
engaging the jack bolts on top of the turnbuckle. The jack bolt will push the pipe in the
direction it is pointing. CAUTION: When engaging one jack bolt the adjacent jack bolt
on the same turnbuckle has to be totally disengaged. You cannot engage both jack
bolts on the same turnbuckle or it will two block itself and not work.

8.) On the 10", Fine Tuning dogs have been supplied. Once the fit-up has been made
and the O.D. is aligned, the Fine Tuning dogs can be slid into the slots around ring and
used to push down any high spots.
!
9.) Once you are good with the alignment you gently snug all jack bolts so you will get a
ridged fit.

7. PROMOTED BY THE UA PIPEFITTER UNION
!
!
We were invited to the UA Instructor Training Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August
10-16, 2013 at the Washtenaw Community College. We provided training to the UA
Pipefitters on our Top Liner Pipe Clamp where it was used to fit-up some heavy-wall 6"
& 8" pipe and induction preheating was used to bring the pipe up to 400 degrees with
our clamp in place. Many locals from all over the US were represented and the clamp
was very well received.
!
We also participated in their International Instructor Training Program that took place
February 11-13, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. They have provided a hot link on their
website to our website for their locals to obtain additional information.
