Pop art originated in England in the 1950s and came to the United States in the 1960s, using everyday objects and popular culture icons from advertising and television in unconventional ways. Andy Warhol was a pioneer of pop art, famous for paintings of Campbell's Soup cans and Coke bottles. He founded The Factory in New York City in 1962 as both an art studio and film production company, where he created over 300 experimental films.
