In the past week, Viber and WhatsApp were bought respectively by Rakuten and Facebook for $900M and somewhere around$16B. At HeyCrowd, we know that our young users love Social Apps, so we took a few minutes to explore what were they opinions on Viber and WhatsApp. There were a lot of data in Germany, Brazil and Italy. France is late to the party, and more into differentiated SnapChat since SMS are free for most people reducing the interest for Messaging Apps. What we found is that for these occidental country, WhatsApp overtakes people mind and usage by a 12 to 1 ratio. Its explains most of the difference in valuation, buyers paying mostly a per user price. We're also not seeing the whole picture since we don't have the opinion in Asia. Here is the data
