1. Maven expands course portfolio
Maven ¦ 11 July 2011
Maven today announces the release of new Agile Project Management courses
As part of the commitment to maintaining its position as the leading Portfolio,
Programme, Project, Risk and Change Management specialist, Maven is pleased to
announce the expansion of its course portfolio to include Agile Project Management.
A new qualification has been created for project managers working in Agile project
environments. Agile Project Management is certified and accredited by the APMG and
was developed in partnership with the DSDM Consortium. The courses are based upon
the tried and tested principles of DSDM Atern and were developed to work alongside
more traditional approaches such as PRINCE2®. These new training courses aim to bring
more structure and rigour to the quickly developing Agile market place that has now
reached a tipping point in that most organisations are adopting agile in some form or
another.
These courses are offered in partnership with Keith Richards Consulting (KRC). Originally
concentrating on the IT sector, KRC became specialists in ‘Agile’ approaches such as
DSDM (Dynamic Systems Development Method) which became the de facto standard
for Rapid Application Development (RAD).
“Agile is growing in importance as a core qualification requirement for many project
management roles –and not just IT project management” says Melanie Franklin, CEO at
Maven. “As a leading provider of project management learning, we simply must offer
the full portfolio to our clients and so we are delighted to have formed a partnership

2. with KRC as they are specialists in their field, which fits perfectly with our strategic
vision” says Melanie.
These courses are aimed at Project Managers who are either adding to their knowledge
of traditional approaches such as PRINCE2® or who are operating in an Agile
environment and need to be able to run projects in more complex and scalable
situations.

About Keith Richards Consulting
Since its formation in 1997 KRC has helped hundreds of companies to improve the
management of their projects and the processes behind them.
When IT project management approaches such as PRINCE became more generic in the
form of PRINCE2®, KRC widened its remit and encapsulated the larger ‘heavyweight’
approaches applicable to any project.
The final ingredient to the mixture is Facilitation. When correctly harnessed it can make
the difference between project success and project failure.
The result of this was the realisation that most projects could run very successfully using
the best of breed from each of these disciplines.
KRC is one of the leading UK consultancies in the introduction and development of the
hybrid method of running PRINCE2® and DSDM in tandem. This has resulted in the

4. publication of the book 'Agile Project Management: running PRINCE2®projects with
DSDM Atern' by Keith Richards published by TSO.
In 2010, Keith Richards was shortlisted for "Most Valuable Agile Player UK" at the
inaugural Agile Awards in London.
