The Revolution
                  By McKenna Chase

 Revolution: When people decide to
overthrow the government in order to
      get a new system started
Magna Carta
It was written for the people of England

It was written in June of 1215

It made it so that Monarchies would not get power
hungry

This is a form of “Rule of law” because the ruler sti" had
to abide by the law
Glorious Revolution
             This revolution occurred in
             England, with no blood shed.

             James II took the throne a$er
             Charles the II, his brother, died

             In the end a constitutional
             monarchy was formed because
             parliament won and the
             people got to have more of a say

             in what happened.

       Rights

December 16, 1689 is when it was enacted

This document limited the power of the King. It had
to reestablish the rules that the Magna Carta made
and it was more detailed.
The Enlightenment

This was a cultural movement where logic, criticism, and
&eedom were themes. It focused on individual &eedoms.

It occurred between 1700 and 1800

It encouraged democracy and individual thinking

He is a French satirist (using sarcasm to get his point
across)

He is known for being a political and social philosopher
who placed reason as the most important.
John Locke
He is &om Warington, England

He lived &om 1632-1704

He believed in Natural Rights. Natural Rights are the
thought that everyone is born with 3 rights, the right to
life, the right to liberty, and the right to own property.
There are certain rights that everyone has the option to
have.
Jean Jacques Rousseau

He is &om Geneva, Switzerland

He lived &om 1712-1778

The Social Contract is a book written by Jean Jacques
Rousseau stating that people are in an agreement that it is
their responsibility to establish a system of government.
Thomas Jefferson
He’s &om Shadwe" , Virginia

He is most known for writing the
Declaration of Independence

Locke said that certain things could be
sold, given away, or confiscated by the
government other than property so it
influenced Thomas Jefferson
