6. What is your YouTube channel?
● It’s the easiest tool to screw up—there is
a lot that needs to be done behind the
scenes for real results.
● Leverage playlists for marketing and
embedding videos onto your site.
● Make sure the closed captioning is done
correctly! Do NOT rely on Google for this!
● It’s all about SEO.

YouTube
Tips
1. Title should tell the viewer exactly what they
will see.
2. Description finishes this sentence, “After watching
this video I will know….
3. Links need to include “http://”.
4. Videos (generally) be under 3 minutes.
5. How does the video build your brand?
6. Can every video stand on its own?
7. Gain exposure by doing videos with another brand.
8. Professional quality videos tend not to get as many
views—people want to see real people.
9. Use search to identify topics that people are
looking for.
10. Transcribe your videos!

Editor's Notes
[Tracey] Wait. We can’t start yet?
[Mel] Why not?
[Tracey] Because the title is upside down. We have to fix that.
[Mel] No that was done on purpose because YouTube is different from other social platforms.
[Tracey] Oh yes that it is!
[Mel] We are told that YouTube is as simple as this…and then we will go viral. Ahh ya, that couldn’t be further from the truth!
Unlike other social platforms, YouTube is more about the behind the scenes features and set up than it is user interaction. If you want YouTube to actually produce results for you, these features are not optional.
