Horsepower Invites You to Put Your Best Boots Forward
Celebrate and Honor the Triad’s Veterans at Red, White and Boots
COLFAX, N.C. - (Nov. 3, 2014) - According to N.C. Division of Veteran Affairs, there are
792,000 Veterans living in North Carolina. Are you looking for an opportunity to honor and
celebrate local veterans in need? "Then this Veteran’s Day is your lucky day,” says Jan Clifford,
the founder and executive director of Horsepower. On Tuesday Nov. 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
Horsepower, a nonprofit organization that provides equine therapy to our local wounded
warriors, will be hosting Red, White and Boots.
This year Horsepower teams up with a group of Strategic Communication students from
High Point University, whom came up with the patriotic theme for this event. Not only will this
event celebrate and honor the veterans of the Triad Area, there will even be a silent auction,
seasonal food and drinks, live entertainment and even a photo booth to make sure that everyone
in attendance has the best Veteran’s Day celebration. “We have felt very fortunate to work with a
group of students who want the event to be nothing short of perfection. Their passion for our
local Veterans is truly inspiring,” said Clifford.

2. HORSEPOWER RED, WHITE, AND BOOTS 2
Not only will Red, White and Boots be honoring and celebrating the local Veterans, but it
will also be a private screening for the award-winning documentary Riding My Way Back. This
film tells follows the journey of Sergeant Aaron Heliker, who finds himself close to committing
suicide as he returns home from war with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. At his most desperate
time, Aaron is introduced to the most unlikeliest of saviors: a horse named Fred. “To be chosen
as one of the few events that will hold a premiere screening for such an acclaimed documentary
really brings joy to our hearts,” says Tim Clifford, the youth director for Horsepower.
No matter how you have celebrated Veteran’s Day in the past, Horsepower is offering
you a fun new way to enjoy this day with your family. Red, White and Boots is open to all ages
and tickets are $20. You can purchase your tickets online at www.horsepower.com. Tickets
bought at the door are $25. Veterans and their loved ones will have free entry. “All of the profits
from this event will go towards the local veterans in need. We hope that everyone comes and
joins us at the Horsepower arena as we take the night to salute those who have become the
Triad’s superheroes,” said Clifford. Time to put your best boots forward.
