Profile:
Over the past 4 years of working as a Research and Development Engineer, I have discovered a passion of solving
problems and creating innovative products. When I am faced with a problem, I will not let it go until I get to the root
cause of the problem and ultimately solve it. As a designer I consider simplicity in products, to be the most important
goal of design. I believe that the users of my products should never get frustrated with its complexity, but rather enjoy
how much simpler everyday tasks become.
Skills:
 Electrical and Electronics Circuit design using microcontrollers, testing and troubleshooting.
 Integration of new motor drive inverter systems into older circuits.
 Printed Circuit Board Design, using Altium Designer Protel.
 Microcontroller software development, mainly Motorola M68HCS08 in C language.
 Field support for electrical and electronic systems of MS elevator systems and Toshiba elevator peripherals.
 AutoCAD.
 Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
 Programming – C, C++, Java and C#.
 Engineering Software – Pspice, Matlab, Codas, Ladsim and Advanced System Design.
Experience:
MS Elevator joint venture company with Toshiba Elevator Corporation
2011 till present
Research and Development Engineer; Design, testing and troubleshooting of microcontroller based elevator systems
Duties:
 Design of electrical and electronics circuits for integration into the elevator controllers.
 Testing and troubleshooting new circuit designs.
 System design of elevator peripherals.
 Development of software to run on the Motorola M68HCS08 microcontroller in C language.
 Field support of MS Elevator systems.
 Documentation of all design work.
Projects:
 Elevator Group Panel design to implement complete electrical isolation between elevator controllers in a group
system.
 Supervisory System design for elevator controller to display elevator status remotely in a control room. This also
requires complete electrical isolation
 Voltage monitoring of all important voltages in the elevator controller. This was achieved using the Motorola
M68HCS08. It involved a true RMS calculation of 3 phase voltages that were passed through an optically isolated
circuit.
 Integration of FairFord SoftStarter into escalator control systems to try and achieve some energy savings.
 Circuit Design, Printed Circuit Board Design, and testing and controller system integration of dual voltage brake
circuit.
 Automated functional test jigs for wired circuits and printed circuit boards; based on circuits controlled using the
Motorola M68HCS08 microcontroller and using excel spread sheets as data entry tables. This automation helped
to reduce the time required in testing of circuits, in one application, the testing time was reduced from 30 minutes
down to 20 seconds. Also it had the advantage of removing human error.
