Case Study: S-W Generator Rotor Repair
• Issue: S-W 561 MW generator
rotor energized for 30 minutes at
standstill. Melted copper and
forging damage in rotor slots.
• Cause: Operator error.
• Solution:
− Replace damaged coils
− Weld repair slots
− Rewind rotor
− High speed balance
• Duration: 71 days
