LR Forum Mike Moran RSCni Programme 30/11/09 10:00 Registration and Tea/Coffee 10.20 Welcome and Introductions Mike Moran – RSCni 10.30 The e-Books Platform in Action – Anna Vernon will provide participants with an overview of the progress so far since the introduction of the ebrary platform in Aug 09 and explain how colleges can get the best out of the collection of almost 3,000 titles. Anna Vernon – Project Manager, JISC e-Books for FE Project 11:30 News Exchange Among LR Staff – An opportunity for delegates to exchange news on LR developments and activities in colleges 11.45 Induction Materials: Updates – At the last LR Forum participants did some practical work on new approaches to library/LRC inductions. In this short session participants will be encouraged to tell colleagues – what they did; what worked; what didn’t work; what they didn’t have time to do. Participants 12.00 Extending the e-Books Collections – Anna Vernon will lead a discussion session and seek ideas from participants about new titles that would be useful for any additional purchases for the core collections and – particularly for those titles relevant to colleges Anna Vernon – Project Manager, JISC e-Books for FE Project Mike Moran – RSCni 12.30 LUNCH 13.15 Joint Session with Teaching and TEL Support Colleagues on Federated Searching – the afternoon will be a session to discuss the features and advantages of federated searching.
