1. To whom it may concern,
It was my senior year in high school, I was sitting in my environmental studies class and
it all dawned on me. I saw myself working for an organization that would help make this
world a better place. I remember we were going over the Great Pacific Garbage Dump
and that was when I realized that we can no longer go the way we have been going. If
we do, there will be major consequences for the environment.
Fast forward five years, and I am a graduate from Central Washington University with
an Arts and Humanities Bachelor degree in Communication Studies and a minor in
Environmental Studies. This past year, I have found this fire inside of me to change the
world. The same fire that was with me my senior year of high school. Now I can sit here
and talk about how much a hard worker I am (which I am) and all the ordinary aspects
to put into a cover letter, but I believe your organization wants someone would will push
past the surface and dig deep.
For instance, I have used every opportunity in my communication studies classes to
educate and advocate for environmental issues. The most recent opportunity was for
my advanced public speaking class. I was able to advocate for the labeling of GMOs. I
taught my classmates the environmental impacts that GMOs have on the land, and
revealed how organic farmers have been effected by this as well.
I have a deep passion for changing the way things are going. I am ready to stand up
and help fight this battle against Climate Change. Your organization will be a great
opportunity for not only myself to prosper, but for my passion to influence your
organization as well. My unique combination of communication skills and knowledge of
the environment, as well as, my passion is what sets me apart from the rest.
If I am given this opportunity to be able to make a change, I will take this and run with it.
Being able to teach others about what is occurring in the world is a great way to reveal
the truth to people. Now is the time for people to come out of the dark about these
issues, and bring them into the light.
