Acceptance testing of the Gunner Sight.
Qualification testing of the Gunner Sight.
Document qualification results in a qualification report.
Assist with Production planning processes and procedures.
Training of production technicians on sighting systems.
My Tasks included:
Hoefyster stabilised sight
o Perform minor modifications on the production units.
o Re-load software (same or updated versions) on the production units.
o Updating of build history documentation for the effected production units.
o Investigate failures reported by the clients on the production units.
o Writing of validation procedures for the registered failures.
o Testing of communication system as per validation procedure.
o Document the validation test results for configuration management purposes.
o Environmental testing.
Gunner sight
o The development team for the new sight system consist of:

Testing of sight software version released for debugging and tools
used during the assembly and test phases.

engineering to design an optimal solution for the production line.
Production (Partial responsibility)
Production units
o Sensors, order placement and barcoding for store placement
and batch identification
o Internal looms, sub-contracting for assembling
o Electronic boards, sub-contracting for assembling
o Focussing and adjusting the parameter settings of the day camera assemblies.
o Assembling of experimental development sight models (XDM).
o Design interface loom for the XDM.
o Assisting the software engineers with XDM software modification.
o Demonstrate the functionality of the XDM sight to the client.
o Assisting the client with integration effort of the XDM on their system bench.
o Investigate purging methods for the sights as well as EMI rings for the different lids
and plates.
o Design and implementing of changes to the engineering design models (EDM).
o Writing instructions for bore sighting (sensor alignment) and assembling process.
o Writing component test verification instructions per sub-system.
o Perform bore sighting, assembling and component test verification to ensure that the
documentation is accurate and can be used correctly by the technicians during the
assembling an integration process.
o Design and fitment of the internal camera looms.
o Assembling of the first three EDMs to be used for qualification testing.
o Writing acceptance test procedure (ATP) for gunner sight.
o Testing the complete sight system according the ATP to ensure that the procedure is
accurate and can be used correctly by the technicians during the test and evaluation
phase.
o Update the configuration management system with the latest sight system input in
order for the planning department to make use of the correct BOM for issuing the
correct quantities to the assembly line.
o Ensure the correct BOM quantities have been issued from stores and all relevant
paperwork is requested from the configuration department before the assembling and
integration process starts.
o Writing qualification test procedure for the gunner sight.
o Perform environmental tests on the gunner sight according to the military
environmental standards specified by the client:
Temperature
Vibration and shock
Altitude
Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)
Rain
Dust and Sand
o Perform qualification tests on the gunner sight according to the test procedure:
Functional testing
Sensor alignment testing
3. Boresight retention testing (part of the vibration and shock)
Optics testing (dead pixels analysis, part of the temperature hot and cold
cycle testing)
Purging of sights with nitrogen and placing of desiccants for moisture control.
o Document qualification results in a qualification report.
o Assembling of more EDMs after qualification testing as part of the client requirement
before delivery of the production units.
o Use the EDMs to provide training to the technicians in preparation for the production
run as well as process flow design, workstation and holding shelves.
