Mothers’ Union is an international charity whose Vision is to bring about a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships
Serving Christ in 81 countries across six continents Mothers ’  Union is… A network of 4 million members dedicated to making a better world for families.
Mothers’ Union brings a real outward-looking dimension to faith Members are committed Christians who serve their local community through  prayer  and through  projects  developed to meet local needs and bring lasting solutions.
“ As I have loved you, so you must love one another” We’re not what you think! We’re not all mothers, or even all women!  Single, married, parents, grandparents, men, women, young, old.
Mothers’ Union is… a diverse community of men and women who reach out in the name of Christ to promote marriage and to support family life.

Building relationship
Building capacity Faithful relationship Mothers’ Union’s strength lies in its grassroots approach – community volunteering to bring transformation
Training members to bring reconciliation and peace to divided communities in Kenya 84,000 beneficiaries
Training 60 community birth attendants, Zambia. Giving hope to mums and babies
Training members to facilitate groups for parents At least 12,640 beneficiaries worldwide
Mothers’ Union is fighting poverty in some of the poorest countries of the world.  Creating self-sufficiency Fighting Poverty Globally 1.4 billion people live in poverty. This statistic will only change when people in poverty are empowered to earn a living independent from charity .
Through its programmes Mothers’ Union works with some of the most neglected, marginalised people in the developing world “ Children are a heritage from the Lord”   Psalm 127
 
Fighting Poverty Vocational training and micro-credit schemes ensure opportunity and a way out of poverty for women who would otherwise be dependent
A Mothers’ Union pineapple juice project in Uganda has now become a full-scale factory business
Income generation Training in skills such as sewing, animal husbandry or food manufacturing gives women a chance to earn an income and lift their family out of poverty Sewing project – Lima Peru. 60 beneficiaries
Ethical giving resources small-scale farming projects for low income families Goats, chicks, ducks, pigs Practical provision Giving a family an animal or two not only improves their diet, but helps them earn an income from selling the extra milk or eggs.

Mothers’ Union  Strengthening relationship
Parenting Programme Strengthening relationship Since 2000 Mothers’ Union has trained facilitators to run parenting groups.  The programme now runs in 12 countries.  Over 1,264 facilitators have been trained to run parenting groups
Passionate about Parenting UK & Ireland Parenting Programme Within the UK our 590 volunteer facilitators run groups based on local needs
Passionate about Parenting UK & Ireland Parenting Programme Groups are not just for parents of babies: teenagers, kids starting school, parents who hold issues in common – such as parenting disabled or special needs children. All come to learn, share and to be encouraged and supported.
Worldwide Parenting Strengthening relationship Through our Worldwide Parenting programme our 674 facilitators run parenting groups in 10 countries

Literacy & Development Strengthening relationship Since 2000 Mothers’ Union’s  Literacy & Development  Programme has given disadvantaged people in  Burundi, Malawi  and  Suda n access to literacy and numeracy education
Literacy & Development Working through 1,450 community based volunteer trainers.  Over 53,150 people are now accredited literacy learners Nearly 74,000 previously disadvantaged learners  have participated in MULDP circles

Mothers’ Union UK & Ireland provide holidays or away days to families to help them rebuild their family life ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Praying for change Faithful relationship Every day at Midday, members pray for the work, for the world, and for each other. This Wave of Prayer ensures a constant cover of prayer for our mission and Vision members pray at least 2.8 billion prayers every year
Social justice With a majority female membership one thing mothers’ union has in abundance is an ability to vocalise. Our voice is a powerful tool for promoting the needs of women and families worldwide.
Mothers ’  Union holds consultative status at the United Nations and each year attends the Commission on the Status of Women An international voice on gender equality ” and what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to  walk humbly with your God ” Micah 6:8
Our member representatives from developed and developing countries work together to advocate for the equality of women both in the home and in national law An international voice on gender equality
Social   Justice Mothers’ Union wants the commercialisation of childhood to stop.  Bye Buy Childhood Our  Bye Buy Childhood  campaign will tackle marketing advertising aimed at children that encourages them to be consumers.

Advocacy Real Relationship Discrimination comes in many forms: Mothers’ Union programmes seek to break down discrimination in communities and create opportunities for development
Women’s rights  recognised and achieved Participants in our community circles learn about the land and inheritance rights of women, and learn that domestic or sexual abuse should not be tolerated
Fighting Stigma HIV/AIDS care Mothers’  Union carries out HIV/AIDS awareness, home-care and gives support to affected families in 11 countries

Loving for Life Relationships rule! Supporting marriage is a key objective for Mothers’ Union Every year we train members to become facilitators equipped to work with their clergy to run locally adapted marriage preparation .

Relationship building for families affected by imprisonment 1,000 Mothers’ Union volunteers work in 90 prisons across the UK and Ireland

Providing a safe, neutral meeting space for children and non-custodial parents. Child Contact Centres help build respectful parental relationships and loving bonds between parents and children Mothers’ Union Child Contact Centres
The famine has come Mothers’ Union Relief Fund Restoration relationship The Relief Fund provides urgent assistance for communities affected by natural disaster or conflict.
Our grassroots nature means we are exceptionally well placed to quickly deliver food, materials and medicines to families in desperate need . 16% of Mothers’ Union’s budget is spent on helping families face adversity
We won’t let our neighbour go hungry. By living sustainably and exploring new ways to overcome the ravages of climate change on sub Saharan Africa, Mothers’ Union are committed to the global neighbourhood

  • 29. Parenting Programme Strengthening relationship Since 2000 Mothers’ Union has trained facilitators to run parenting groups. The programme now runs in 12 countries. Over 1,264 facilitators have been trained to run parenting groups

  • 31. Passionate about Parenting UK & Ireland Parenting Programme Groups are not just for parents of babies: teenagers, kids starting school, parents who hold issues in common – such as parenting disabled or special needs children. All come to learn, share and to be encouraged and supported.
