Engineering.
2. What’s the Internet of Things?
- From any time, any place connectivity for anyone, we will
have connectivity for anything!
The IoT connects
devices
such as everyday
consumer objects and
industrial equipment
onto the network
enabling info.
gathering and
management of these
devices via software
to increase efficiency
or environmental
benifits.
3. Basic structure of how IoT works.
I intend to choose this topic because,
-It really grabs my passion to utilize the data into meaningful form.
-It is not a new topic but till now the concept is not utilized in real world.
4. For example, check this out..
Scenario: shopping
(2) When shopping in the market,
the goods will introduce
themselves.
(1) When entering the doors, scanners
will identify the tags on her clothing.
(4) When paying for the goods, the
microchip of the credit card will
communicate with checkout reader.
(3) When moving the goods, the reader
will tell the staff to put a new one.
5. Trends:
Hardware- made up of sensors, actuators and embedded
communication hardware.
Information gathering- sensors which are used will enable
information gathering.
Bigdata- includes data sets with sizes beyond the ability
of commonly used tools to manage and process data flow.
Smart Phones-latest trend in IoT which connect with
every location with the help of internet. With the help
of software apps it enables us to control things.
6. Impact of IoT in future.
Traffic monitoring-monitoring and analyzing traffic patterns
to reroute drivers and also safety for citizens.
Artificial Interllingence.
GE’s smart jet engines that transmit over one terabyte of
sensor data per flight. When the plane lands, the airline
already knows if any maintenance is required and can
expedite the process, saving time and money while
decreasing the risk of engine issues in flight.
Security & emergency detection – detecting radiation,
gases, and other hazardous conditions in real time.
Medical-in this field, it plays important role like observing and
monitoring one's health by using some highly sophisticated
apps.
7. My Interest Areas.
• I’m interested in handling the data which is flowing
through these smart devices embedded with
sensors.
• These devices are going to produce a high
amount of data and managing this data is highly
important.
• So, given an internship in this area, I would like to
work on how large amount of data is being
collected, processed and analyzed for various
uses.
8. Conclusion-
“If you think that the internet has
changed your life, think again. The IoT
is about to change it all over again!”.
&
Thank you.
