With the decrease in cost of hardware for
connectivity for an appliance or a device,
there have been an increase in the no. of
connected devices. Currently we have :-
Connected Cars
 Connected TVs
Connected Home Appliances
Phones/Tablets
Wearable (Google Glass , Smart Watches)
We have 2,000,000,000 connected devices
among which we have an estimated 20 %
devices apart from tablets and phone (could
be referred to as things )

5. Upcoming Trends and Impacts of IoT
 Smart Connected Cities
 Better medical care for patients through
connected devices.
 IIOT , the industrial internet of things where
smart industries share data and information
among them leading to better industrial
production.
 Improved logistic, paramedical facilities ,
agriculture ,traffic control , and disaster
management
 Enhanced virtually connected world.
 Smarter market and retail sector.
Increasing venture capital investment and
involvement of technology giants will give a
boost to internet of things and developing more
smarter objects.

6. Area of Interest
The internet of things is the next era of electronic revolution . It
is aimed to develop a world , which is better connected ,better
managed and requiring least human interference. Reducing
human interaction will ultimately result into a faster and safer ie
less error prone society. This world will have increased facilities
in health sector, education ,agriculture marketing etc.
This future world will be a world having extremely large no. of
device with open internet connectivity hence security of such
devices will be a challenge. These device will be vulnerable to
attacks and cyber threats and securing this connectivity will be
of maximum interest to me .
Given a chance of an internship , I would like to work in field of
enhancing and improving the impact of IoT in health care and
public connectivity sector so as to it may lead to a society which
has lesser reliability on humans and is less error prone and
making this connected world safe from cyber threats.
