Pocahontas was a member of the Powhatan Native American tribe born in 1595 in Virginia. When she was 10, English settlers arrived in her homeland. She befriended the settlers, including John Smith, despite tensions between the Powhatan and English. Pocahontas famously saved John Smith's life by covering his body with hers when her father was going to kill him. She later married Englishman John Rolfe in 1614 and took his last name, Rebecca Rolfe. She traveled to England in 1616 but died there from an unknown illness.

She also loved to visited James Town a town that England made when they got on their land. She made friends with them. The Powhatan tribe were fighting often when she was little.
