Perception Bell activity What is perception? Use the images to help you!
Learning objective To recap how our visual system works To be able to explain how we can misinterpret Visual information.
Connect the learning What is the difference between: sensation and perception
Perception is the process of interpreting and understanding sensory Information. Sensation Is the stimulation of our sensory receptors (What we actually see)

The cornea Focuses or bends light and protects the eye The pupil Is the hole in the iris through which light Waves pass The lens Focuses the light onto the area of visual acuity The retina Converts light energy into electrical impulses The optic nerve Transmits the electrical impulses to the brain

Ambiguity When there is more than one Interpretation of the image on the retina
Distortion This is when an Image appears to be Larger or a Different shape than It actually is For example the Moon appears much Larger when it is High in the sky
Paradox This is a two dimensional image which cannot Exist as a three dimensional image
Fiction We see something that is not actually there.
Plenary Learning objective To recap how our visual system works To be able to explain how we can misinterpret visual information. Have you achieved both objectives? Show me with your fingers!
