1. Headline:
Freddie Lucas struts his stuff for ‘Vain’
Introduction -
I’m just sitting here today with the next big thing on the runway Freddie Lucas. Runway
model overnight after wowing everyone last month on the Golden Catwalk. Magazines,
newspapers billboards are plastered with his pictures and everyone who’s anyone knows this
handsome young English boys’ name by now. He’s so lovely and cheeky I feel like I’m talking
to my little brother, he’s so cute. Doing shoots at the age of 11 for big brands such as H&M
and River Island his name wasn’t known just his face. After taking a few years of after this to
concentrate on school work at private school Bradley Manor in London, he would of never of
thought he would have such a big comeback at the age of 14.
Interview –
1. How does it feel after your career blowing up in only a year?
It feels amazing I would have never expected anything like this. My friends and family are so
supportive now not all of them enjoy being chased by the paparazzi though (laughs). When I started
modelling at the age of 11 it was for small company’s or shoots which I thought were the real thing,
being so young I thought I’d made it then and I loved every second of it. After doing that every now
and then I had a bit of a break to concentrate on school and thinking about career options for when I
was older other than modelling because my parents didn’t want me to experience too much all at
once and get overwhelmed. Then at the still very young age of 14 I’m here today talking to the
writers of Vain and I’m so glad I never gave up on my passion. This past year has been worth all the
hard work.
2. Were lucky today, you do know every magazine wants you on their cover right?
Well thank-you I’m still trying to take it all in. I’m overwhelmed and being so young sometimes it’s
hard to believe. This past year has gone so fast and I’m so lucky that so many people do want me on
their magazine. Vain is always one that I’ve read though and I was so excited when you rang me up
to come in for an interview. It’s quite weird going to a shoot and being the only one there, just me
being on the cover by myself, before there would be groups of us for catalogues or billboards. It’s
surreal.
3. What did you think of the outfits you wore designed by designer label WOW on
The Golden Catwalk last week?
Well I know why they are called WOW now because those outfits were amazing. They were so out
there and detailed. I felt like a star in them and honoured they chose me to model the label for The
Golden Catwalk. My favourite was the daytime going out look it was defiantly something I would
wear in London, maybe a bit to dressed up for anywhere else though (laughs) they are defiantly
outfits for people who want to show off and stand out. The label deserves a lot of credit and I hope
people start to see how good they actually are. They put so much time and effort into their clothes. I
think by the end of the year everyone should be wearing their clothes.
2. 4. Describe your look to us today?
Today is very early so this is my just got out of bed, had to rush in and there was so much traffic look
(laughs). I’m actually wearing these high tops from The Golden Catwalk show they just didn’t get
used on the day but I got to keep them. Then just jeans and a white polo, then a chain I got from my
mum when I did my first big photo shoot for River Island. I’m going to do a filmed interview later so
they don’t like it if I do my hair because they want to so that also explains why it’s such a mess as
well (laughs).
5. We hear you had an interesting photo shoot last week want to spill any gossip
on why exactly?
Well yes actually it was defiantly interesting and possibly one of the best days of my life. Getting to
spend the day posing for one of my favourite photographers Wayne Lions was incredible, actually
having him shoot me was amazing I won’t forget that. Also having my mum on set was so good, she
had so much fun. Oh and also the Diva girls where doing the shoot with me so that wasn’t too bad
(laughs) they love how cute I am.
6. How was it spending a day with the Diva girls?
It was so good, I can’t wait for all my friends to see, they will be so jealous because they are so hot
(laughs). What I’m a boy and nearly 15 of course I am going to think that. They were lovely to though
we had such a fun day, it didn’t even feel like a shoot.
7. Have you ever thought about designing?
Well that has always been something I thought of doing if I hadn’t of got into modelling again this
year. I have always like the behind the scenes part of a fashion show that no one see’s. Because
without them the show wouldn’t happen, the models need clothes. However or the minute I’m going
to stick with modelling because I love the buzz it gives me and getting to strut all the amazing outfits
for shoots or catwalks. I hope to do more this year and keep moving forward. So yes to your question
but just not yet in my life.
8. How is it going to school still, do you get a lot of attention?
Well because of the summer holidays I haven’t seen my friends much this last couple of months but
before that it was fine I have a close group of a few friends which I will keep that fully support me.
People just treat me normally because well I am; it’s just more than 50 people now know me, even
some in other countries. But if I just keep reminding myself that I am living my dream just like so
many other people, how lucky I am but that I am still normal me then I don’t think people will treat
me much different at school, if I don’t act it. I still do homework, play football at lunch and even get
detentions (laughs) everyone runs late sometimes.
Final Comments -
Half an hour well spent with Freddie Lucas was the cheeky chap everyone knows him to be.
From rushing in late flirting with me and having banter with all the camera crew it didn’t feel
3. like I was working then. I’d love to have him back. He has mine and I’m sure everyone’s
support and luck for the future.
