What was/ is the issue?,[object Object],2007,[object Object],Recognise fundamental problem with the sharing of roads for vulnerable road users.,[object Object],30 mph speed limit leaves very little time for reaction.,[object Object],Segregation of VRU’s not possible, ethical, equitable or successful.,[object Object],Required a “paradigm shift” in the way residential and urban roads were shared,[object Object],Many VO’s had default 20 mph speed limits on “radar”, none had it in its sights!,[object Object]
What was change you wanted to bring about?,[object Object],20 mph default speed limit for all residential roads.,[object Object],Problems,[object Object],No government interest in changing 30 to 20,[object Object],Motoring lobby hard to fight,[object Object],People like speed and base safety on personal observations,[object Object],But,[object Object],Dept for Transport had just eased 20 mph requirements,[object Object],Portsmouth had just decided on 20 mph for city,[object Object],Grass roots campaign could get local chnage,[object Object]
20’s Plenty for Us was formed :-,[object Object],Single issue organisation (me),[object Object],Clear branding to communicate objective and community orientation,[object Object],Goals:-,[object Object],2008	1m people in LA’s with 20 mph as default,[object Object],2009	5m people in LA’s with 20 mph as default,[object Object],2010	30m people LA’s with 20 mph as default,[object Object],Methods,[object Object],Create and support local campaigns for “Total 20”,[object Object],Lobby establishment with the imperative for lower speeds,[object Object],Maximise awareness within the transport profession,[object Object]
