- Women’s ad hoc policy group set up in An invitation to women policy workers was sent out, asking how women’s contribution to policy development could be addressed. As well as the need for additional resources, many policy workers felt the need for a forum ‘in which women could be the subject rather than the object of policy debate.’ The ad hoc policy group came into being to meet that need (WHAT date?) During 2003 the WRDA continued to act as convenor for the group and to moderate the e-group that was set up to meet that need. It came into existence 29 April 2002. During 2003 the WRDA continued to act as convenor for the group and to moderate the e group. 2003 – 28 members. (names in WRDA annual report) Some of the first activities: Preliminary drafting of GES and began to think about what gender budgeting was and organising a seminar for 2004. Women’s Manifesto – with ICTU and ECNI – launched Nov 2005?)
- 4 This was in the context on women being disproportionately affected by budegtary decisions.
- This was a parallel process and work undertaken by WRDA in response to the invisibility of women in discourse on the economic crisis. Work commissioned by WRDA, funded by OFMdFM and written by Bronagh Hinds and launched in July of this year in Stormont by the 2 Junior Ministers Very well received........requiring a further print run This provides a robust evidence base for our ongoing work in terms of sensitising budgetary discussions and decisions and general economic policy issues. For the first time we have a comprehensive baseline analysis of women’s economic position and participation in NI. Moreover, this report also analyses the impact to date of the financial crisis and government responses to the financial crisis on women in the region
