O’Neill & Preigh
Renowned for Church Equipment



Introduction
O’Neill & Preigh was established 800 years old in a small village on the outskirts of
Rome. Now it operates their corporate offices in Lancaster and Pennsylvania. The
company manufactures a standard line of church furnishings and equipment, which it
sells worldwide through its own sales force. It is world renowned for its artisanship. Over
the past few quarters, the company’s market share has been decreasing due to
Southeast conglomerate that has managed to win over O’Neill & Preigh customers
through an aggressive pricing strategy. That has taken away some market share,
especially those customers either who do not recognize quality or who are price
sensitive, rather than try to compete directly. O’Neill & Preigh has decided to focus on
its custom-built line of business. Its data suggests, there is a large enough customer
base that appreciates quality and would be excellent prospects for custom-designed
products.

   4. Never looks in cost control, effectiveness and efficiency.

   9. Lack of management interest towards business growth

   10. Computer technology applied just as calculating machine

Initiatives of Projects by Management
In the result of Del E. Lama President of O&P company bleak report, several managers
stepped forward towards the effective ideas for projects that might pull out the company
from slump to its image and greatness. Therefore, two projects forwarded to
management team for further implementation.

Project 1: Office Supplies Containment
Nick Uldyme VP finance of the company is responsible for the company’s office supply
containments. He decided to initiate the project that would establish budgeting process
with controls and checkpoints regarding office supply containments, to explore various
ideas for cost containments.

Existing Problem

   1. Nick thinks to take initiate but never done anything so far
   2. Never work on any process
   3. Don’t have appropriate knowledge to control budget


And in:

Project 2: Gold Medallion Organ
Hal E. Lewya VP of manufacturing recruited for company. He has creative ability in
innovation regarding instruments. He proposed an idea in the line of organ using new
technology but company ignored his idea touch screen organ.

Existing problem

1. Ignored the idea of using new technology in manufacturing organ at right time
2. Hal start ignoring in company’s business improvement and production
3. Now Hal interested in to sell his idea to O&P Company through contractor

Recommendation for O&P
Company should establish a Project Support Office (PSO), that will look after the new
projects.



What is Project Support Office (PSO)?
A Project Support Office is a temporary is a temporary or permanent organizational unit
that provides a portfolio of services to support project teams that are responsible for a
specific portfolio of projects.

Portfolio of Services
   1. Project support

      This extends to preparing proposals, gathering and reporting weekly status
      information, maintaining the project notebook, and assisting with the post
      implementation audit.

   2. Consulting and Mentoring

      Professional project consultants and trainers are available in the PSO to support
      the consulting and mentoring needs of the project team.

   3. Methods and Standards

      This includes such areas as project initiation, project planning, project selection,
      project prioritization, work break down structure templates, risk assessment,
      project documentation, reporting, software selection and training, post
      implementation audits and dissemination of best practices.

   4. Software tools

      The evaluation, selection, installation, support, and maintenance of all the project
      work is part of this function.

   5. Training

Training curriculum development and training delivery may be assigned to the
       PSO depending on whether the organization has a centralized training
       department and whether it has the expertise required to the develop and deliver
       the needed programs.

   6. Project Managers

       Here the PSO offers a safe harbor to project managers for advice, suggestions
       and career guidance.

Why we need the PSO?
   •   Lack of executive management support

   •   Lack of user involvement

   •   Lack of experienced managers

   •   Lack of clear business objectives

   •   Lack of reliable estimates

   •   Lack of skilled staff

Within business plan, the organization should cover the following business issues:

      Designation)

  •   New product marketing task to be given to Ms. Clara Voyant VP marketing

  •   Computerized all area for the rapid communication and for all purposes

Conclusion
Nothing is impossible in the world if you get right decision on right time that is much
important as changing business environment. Always be in touch to the market to catch
the opportunity.

Now it operates their corporate offices in Lancaster and Pennsylvania. The company manufactures a standard line of church furnishings and equipment, which it sells worldwide through its own sales force. It is world renowned for its artisanship. Over the past few quarters, the company’s market share has been decreasing due to Southeast conglomerate that has managed to win over O’Neill & Preigh customers through an aggressive pricing strategy. That has taken away some market share, especially those customers either who do not recognize quality or who are price sensitive, rather than try to compete directly. O’Neill & Preigh has decided to focus on its custom-built line of business. Lama President of O&P company bleak report, several managers stepped forward towards the effective ideas for projects that might pull out the company from slump to its image and greatness. Therefore, two projects forwarded to management team for further implementation. Project 1: Office Supplies Containment Nick Uldyme VP finance of the company is responsible for the company’s office supply containments. He decided to initiate the project that would establish budgeting process with controls and checkpoints regarding office supply containments, to explore various ideas for cost containments. Existing Problem 1. Nick thinks to take initiate but never done anything so far 2. Never work on any process 3. Don’t have appropriate knowledge to control budget And in: Project 2: Gold Medallion Organ Hal E. Lewya VP of manufacturing recruited for company. He has creative ability in innovation regarding instruments. He proposed an idea in the line of organ using new technology but company ignored his idea touch screen organ. Now Hal interested in to sell his idea to O&P Company through contractor Recommendation for O&P Company should establish a Project Support Office (PSO), that will look after the new projects. What is Project Support Office (PSO)? A Project Support Office is a temporary is a temporary or permanent organizational unit that provides a portfolio of services to support project teams that are responsible for a specific portfolio of projects. Portfolio of Services 1. Project support This extends to preparing proposals, gathering and reporting weekly status information, maintaining the project notebook, and assisting with the post implementation audit. 2. Consulting and Mentoring Professional project consultants and trainers are available in the PSO to support the consulting and mentoring needs of the project team. 3. Methods and Standards This includes such areas as project initiation, project planning, project selection, project prioritization, work break down structure templates, risk assessment, project documentation, reporting, software selection and training, post implementation audits and dissemination of best practices. 4. Software tools The evaluation, selection, installation, support, and maintenance of all the project work is part of this function. 5. Training curriculum development and training delivery may be assigned to the PSO depending on whether the organization has a centralized training department and whether it has the expertise required to the develop and deliver the needed programs. 6. Project Managers Here the PSO offers a safe harbor to project managers for advice, suggestions and career guidance.
