2. Preliminary Task:
- Diegetic sound: directly from characters
within the scene.
- Also diegetic sound from one of the
characters moving a chair.
- No non-diegetic sound, no added or
additional music, voices or enforced sounds.
3. Opening Two Minutes of ‘The Visitor’:
- Both diegetic and non-diegetic sound.
- Non diegetic sound included the lullaby
we added to the film once the final clips had
been edited.
- Diegetic sound included all the lines the
characters/actors said and other natural
sound such as keys, car engine etc.
4. Music Video:
- Both diegetic and non-diegetic sound.
- Non-diegetic sound: the track we
downloaded and embedded from YouTube on
to iMovie.
- Diegetic sound: used at the beginning of
the music video (layer one) where the actors
were having a conversation.
5. Preliminary Task:
- Used only very basic techniques.
- Basically just cutting and merging clips
rather than adding any effects.
Opening Two Minutes:
- Added fades and dissolves to build up
tension in appropriate places.
- Used only iMovie
6. Music Video:
- Used both iMovie and Final Cut Pro.
- Used split screen (more than one image
on screen at a particular moment).
- Fast cutting rate/rhythm
- Used a various amount of effects; fades,
dissolves, black and white, earthquake etc.
7. Preliminary Task:
- Camera was held very shakily
- Little use of tripod
- Zoom was occasionally out of focus
Opening Two Minutes:
- Tripod was used for most stills shots
- Camera was held in a firm position
- Used creative ways to gain different
shots (panning shot taken from a driving car
etc).
8. Music Video:
- Used both equipment from school and
individual equipment (iPhone).
- Camera was held steadily at all times.
- Focussed on getting a variety of shots
from different angles and positions (creative
ways of holding/placing the camera; for
example standing on chairs/walls to get an
effective high angle shot).
9. AS Level:
- Apart from improvements spoken about
in regards to preliminary and the final task,
there were no additional skills gained.
A2 Level:
- Adobe Photoshop (advert and digipak).
- Prezi (evaluation tasks).
10. Preliminary Task:
- No titles used.
Opening Two Minutes:
- Titles added on top of film lasting for
around 2.5 seconds each.
11. Music Video:
- Titles displayed at the very beginning of
the video.
- Very small font was used to not distract
attention away from the music video itself.
- Placed directly in the bottom left hand
corner which is commonly displayed in
existing, well-known music videos.
