FOCUS: Nitrocellulose coated Microarray Slides
NITROCELLULOSE SLIDES MOVE FROM THE R&D LAB AND INTO CLINICAL RESEARCH
Discover how researchers at George Mason University are using
NEXTERION® Slide NC in a pre-clinical trial to determine the best drug
treatment for patients with multiple myleoma, an incurable plasma cell
cancer, who have failed with conventional therapy.

NEW METHOD TO IMPROVE S/N RATIOS ON NITROCELLULOSE SLIDES
Researchers at the J. Craig Venter Institute have discovered that using
Polyvinyl alcohol, as a blocking solution after printing, significantly improves
the signal-to-noise ratios on nitrocellulose coated slides. This technique is
adapted from one that is widely used in lateral flow immunoassays (see
figure 3).

2. REVERSE PHASE PROTEIN ARRAY WORKSHOP 10-11 OCTOBER HOUSTON, TX
You can also meet the NEXTERION® team at the Global Workshop on
Reverse Phase Protein Arrays hosted by the University of Texas M.D.
Anderson Cancer Center and George Mason University.
The goal is to bring together Academia and Industry to better understand
the challenges and opportunities of this platform. The Global Workshop will
take place in, on the campus of M.D. Anderson. This will be a 2 day event
held Monday, October 10th and Tuesday, October 11th, 2011.
The organizers are seeking speakers and poster submissions, as well as
attendees, sponsors, and vendors who would like to participate. More details
will be forthcoming. Please contact Paul Hartman for further details:

ENHANCED BARCODES ON ALL SCHOTT NEXTERION® MICROARRAY SLIDES
The new NEXTERION® barcodes are permanently fused to the glass surface,
making them highly resistant to abrasion, and most commonly used buffers.
In addition, the black color greatly improves the contrast, and therefore the
readability of the barcodes. The new method of application allows barcodes
and custom logos to be printed at a much higher resolution.
