- Ian: Statistics:On any given night, approximately 2000 youth are homeless. There are merely 12 shelters in Toronto today that are trying to help the issue at hand. It costs about $250 to keep one young person in a juvenile detention for a day. It costs nearly 3 times less for that same person to stay in a shelter instead.
- Chirag: Why?To recap from the video, there are several reasons as to why a youth person such as you and I may leave home. For example, sexual and drug abuse, conflicts with the law, personal problems with family, and physical violence are all factors that contribute to youth homelessness. In fact, approximately 70% of youth homeless leave their homes because of physical violence.
