What is the Integral Model & how does it work? Why is it so significant for this time in history?
In this class we study the integral model in depth & ask why it could be one of the most important maps for directing us in the creation of more sustainable human societies.
Integral theory is an all-inclusive framework that draws on the key insights of the world’s greatest knowledge traditions.
The awareness gained from drawing on all truths and perspectives allows the Integral thinker to bring new depth, clarity and compassion to every level of human endeavor — from unlocking individual potential to finding new approaches to global-scale problems.

6. There are many different perspectives
in the world, many of them apparently
contradictory ...
7. For the first time in history we have access to
all human cultures & their knowledge
8. All perspectives have
something to contribute,
they may all contain some
piece of the truth

9. It's not about finding the
correct perspective
But about finding how all of these
perspectives fit
Without eliminating any one,
but putting each one in its place
10. 4 Steps of the Scientific Method
• Experimentation
• Hypothesis (a model) > Theory
• Observation
• Prediction
11. "How can we collect all
the essential elements of
each perspective &
construct with this a map
of human development?"
Ken Wilber asked himself:
Pattern - Spotting
12. We start with putting all
perspectives on top of the table:
sciences, spiritual traditions, philosophical
currents ...
22. They are disposed in “holarchies”:
Each level includes and transcends the previous ones
But! Watch out for the
"pre-trans fallacy"!
All levels are
necessary
HOLON: A term coined by Arthur
Koestler.
In Integral Theory, a holon refers to a
whole that is simultaneously part of
another whole, or “whole/part.”
Whole atoms are parts of whole
molecules, which themselves are parts
of whole cells, and so on. There are
individual holons and social holons.
31. The idea of the lines of
development is inspired
by Howard Gardner's
theory of the Multiple
Intelligences
However, the RC model
talks about a single type of
intelligence that supports
us in everything
Are the two models compatible?
32. If we have more
patterns in a line
than others,
those prevent us
from developing
this potential.

are important

Editor's Notes
Pensar en una hipótesis que puede ser falsificada, y diseñar experimentos para hacerlo, es el marco de un cienciado verdadero.

Popper argued that scientific knowledge advanced most reliably by the development and refutation of hypotheses - much more reliably than by the accretion of evidence in support of theories. The principle of refutation put forward by the philosopher Karl Popper, in his books The Logic of Scientific Discovery and Conjectures and Refutations, is my choice. (of what I would teach the world about science).
He said you cannot prove that all swans are white by counting white swans, but you can prove that not all swans are white by counting one black swan.
Dr Robert Maynard Senior medical officer at the UK Department of Health Popper's approach is now accepted, in principle, by many scientists.
And yet much research is still based upon induction - upon the collection of facts to support our ideas.
Erecting hypotheses that can be falsified, and designing experiments capable of doing so, is the hallmark of the true scientist.
In fact, it distinguishes the scientist from the non-scientist
