Final Remarks
 The experience from the Amazon Fund shows some of the main barriers that need to
be overcome for replicating and scaling up:
 Design of eligibility criteria to ensure that projects supported will contribute to
the Fund’s objective;
 Capacity building to structure, evaluate and execute the projects;
 Mobilization of institutions with the relevant skills to lead each project; and
 Establishment of effectiveness and transparency mechanisms.
 The increase of resources allocated to climate finance projects can be achieved as a
result of new mechanisms and by amplifying the scope of existing instruments (e.g.
the Amazon Fund is starting to support projects out of Brazil).
 New mechanisms will be more effective when aligned with national and local public
policies.

  • 17. 17 Final Remarks  The experience from the Amazon Fund shows some of the main barriers that need to be overcome for replicating and scaling up:  Design of eligibility criteria to ensure that projects supported will contribute to the Fund’s objective;  Capacity building to structure, evaluate and execute the projects;  Mobilization of institutions with the relevant skills to lead each project; and  Establishment of effectiveness and transparency mechanisms.  The increase of resources allocated to climate finance projects can be achieved as a result of new mechanisms and by amplifying the scope of existing instruments (e.g. the Amazon Fund is starting to support projects out of Brazil).  New mechanisms will be more effective when aligned with national and local public policies.
