• In order to deliver VoLTE, the policy management system (PCRF) needs to
dynamically manage mobile resources associated with each VoLTE call.
• PCRF sits in between the IMS layer and the data-plane nodes
• It ensures the correct call quality is applied
• Defines the QoS to be set on the P-GW
• Creates the dedicated bearer that carries voice traffic
