Facebook advertising is a critical part of your Facebook marketing strategy.
Any Facebook business page needs a steady flow of new fans in order for you to get more leads, and therefore sales, as time goes by.
These fans need to be people who are likely to be interested in your products, services, or information however, and you can't just expect many (or any) to just stumble upon your page and follow you.
You won't get them for free (organically) these days.
You will need pay to use Facebook ads to target and attract the right fans to your page.
In this blog Oxygen 2.0 will explain some of the best ads to spend your Facebook advertising budget on in order to get more of the right fans, and share a great info-graphic that shows you how to set them up. Read on...

Facebook Isn't Free (And Why This Is OK)
I'll get one inconvenient truth out of the way right now:
"You need to pay to get success from Facebook."
There, I said it. Facebook isn't free to marketers.
The good news is that your budget doesn't necessarily need to be large for you to get good results, however
you do need to spend it wisely to make sure that get a good ROI.
2. In the past you always had to pay to advertise your page on Facebook, but options were limited and so the quality
of fans you could advertise to was not as good as you get today for the same (or at least similar) cost.
Up until just a couple of years ago Facebook ads had very limited targeting options for marketers.
You could only really choose to target people via:
Being able to target by interests was the main weapon in the marketer's arsenal, as you could choose to advertise
your page to people who 'liked' whatever it was you were also related to, say for instance 'snowboarding,' on
Facebook, for a snowboarding & skiing store's page.
You could target people who liked snowboarding in your area who didn't already like your page, and there's a
chance that some of them might indeed like your page, and so come to your store.
But a lot of these potential fans may not be a serious snowboarding fan, or they may have liked it years ago, and
are now not interested. So you'd be advertising to a lot of people who would ignore your ad, and there was little
you could do about that.
There had to be a better way to find 'hot' leads.
The lack of being able to advertise very strictly left Facebook marketers using this sledge hammer approach to
attract fans. Sure, it worked, but by being able to advertise to much more focused groups of Facebook users, it
would be possible to find fans who are much more likely to be interested in your page, and therefore more likely to
become a lead or sale.
Turn the clock back a year or so, and Facebook helped us to do so by bringing in custom audiences.
These ads are a tool to help you target Facebook users who are likely to be very knowledgeable, interested in, and
possibly even already using, services and products that your company also offers.
3. This is because they allow marketers to advertise solely to Facebook users who have already:
What's more, you can also advertise to ' lookalike custom audiences': Facebook fans who are very similar in taste
and behaviour to these 'hot' leads! Awesome, right?
Many of these site visitors for instance won't have signed up for something, liked your facebook page, or made a
purchase, but because they visited your site you know that they are interested in your company!
If you just let them visit and leave, you're losing the opportunity to share your content with, and advertise to, them
in the future. Custom audiences allow you to attarct them to become a fan of your Facebook page, which then
gives you many options to turn these fans into customers, as they're your high potential leads (as they are already
interested in you, but didn't take that final step to become a customer).
So custom audiences are an awesome part of your Facebook marketing strategy because, even though these
people may have visited your site or be in your email list, they give you a platform to advertise to them in many
different ways, as well as showing them more of your posts, videos, etc, that they simply would never see, and be
persuaded to buy from, otherwise.
Why It's OK To Pay
Paying to use Facebook can leave a bad taste in the mouth, especially as its motto is:
"It's free and always will be."
But this doesn't really apply to marketers, only to private users.
Every business thrives on getting new leads, and converting them to sales.
If you're unsure of the value of getting interested fans into your Facebook page's sphere of influence, let me ask
you:
"Can your website appear in their news feed, show them a video, email them an offer code, or show its latest
content to visitors' friends who have similar interests..?"
Thought not.
So instead of cursing Facebook, a fellow business, for taking your money in return for allowing you to target very
hot leads, you should, in my opinion, be pleased that for just cents per new fan in many cases, you have a
platform that allows you to advertise to an almost unlimited amount of people who are very interested in your
business!
4. What you spend is up to you, but, depending on your industry, you could gain these new fans for just $0.20 to
$0.30 each! Therefore if you were to spend just $20 or $30 per month you could attract hundreds of new, high
potential, fans to your Facebook page. That's not a bad return on investment at all.
This infographic from payroll company SurePayroll demonstrates just how easy it is for you to advertise to custom
audiences based on your company's visitors and subscribers (hot leads), and don't forget that the same principle
applies to lookalike audiences, who are similar to these people, but just haven't had any contact with you at all yet.
