The city hall approved a plan that will
limit the opening of “souvenirs
stores” on the city center.

Before this regulation, people didn’t need an special
license for a souvenir store, but now they do.
The regulation indicates that if a store sells 20% or
more of souvenir goods, they have to report it. Also, if
they open a store without the proper license, it will be
closed.

Approved on two sessions, on April and
September; the extension of the suspension
of the activities, of installation or extension,
of residencies used for Tourism purposes.
This suspension could last up to two years.
On April Licenses were suspended
for the the most of the districts in
Ciutat vella.
On October the City Hall announced
the initial approval of the “Plan
especial Urbanistic per a la
regulacion dels habitages d’Us

This initiative has 15 programs that work on
two parallel branches:
The promotion and the tourism and the city:
• The city hall has explained that the idea is
to decentralize the historic center, and to
promote the areas of Montjuic and
Forum.
• New routes will be design, in order to help
organize the flow of tourists.
• Barcelona will become the door to
Catalunya, and not only a place of passage.
• A set of complete packages will be offered;
on which there will be a combination of
city activities and off cities routes.
• The cruise flows will be administrated,
reinforcing transport and previewing their
schedules.

(2014)
The
administration
approved the
extension of
prohibition of
street drinking.
The legislation is
now extended to
plastic cups and
tetrabrick
packaging,
As a result of the “PLAN DE USOS”;
establishments were inspected. If found
selling fast food items, when their license only
allows them to sell goods, the city hall will
close their stores. 12 out of the 21 locals
inspected, will end up closing, for not having
the proper license.
The main goal of this inspections, is the fight against disloyal
competition between this stores and bars and restaurants.
The idea is that the street could be use
again for walking, and not for eating

Barcelona’s City Hall has restricted, on Friday and
Saturday mornings, the access of tourist groups to the
historic market of “LA BOQUERIA”
Xavier Trias, the city
major, signed a decree
in order to regulate
the access of organized
groups (15 people or
more). The decree
bans the access from
opening hours, until
15:00hrs.
The
Boqueria’s
security
workers have
received the
necessary
training to
inform and
walk out
visitors who
disobey
instructions.
Companies warned
the city that the
drastic measure
would make them
loose 7.6 millions .
