3. INDIVIDUAL LEARNING OUTCOMES
- 3 -
Pau Garcia Gonzalez participated in the European Voluntary Service project ALL WITHOUT BORDERS in
Thessaloniki, Greece between 05/03/2015 and 21/12/2015.
The following summary of Pau Garcia Gonzalez's learning outcome is the result of an ongoing dialogue process between
Pau Garcia Gonzalez and his mentor Olympia Datsi during the whole activity.
The following description of learning outcomes is a reflection related to the Key Competences for Lifelong Learning
recommended by the European Parliament and the Council in December 2006.
COMMUNICATION IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Pau was able to learn the basic communication to talk with Greek locals, shop traders or local authorities. He was very interested
in this language, being one of the reasons was the similarities in accent with the Spanish. After some months living in Greece,
he could understand a lot of conversations between locals and sometimes participate in such conversations.
The language used in office, home and whole life was English. Pau had experience working using this language, which made
the adaptations much easier. Furthermore, writing articles and reports in English made him improve his writing skills, as well
as his presentations skills in this language, since he had to run some of them in his radio show.
Pau and his flatmates had a weekly tandem, where they were teaching and learning different languages.
As consequence of living with people from different countries, he can say basic words in different languages, especially in
Turkish, whom language is starting to speak.
DIGITAL COMPETENCE
Pau created two new personal blogs, which still update often in Spanish and English: http://paugarciagonzalez.blogspot.gr/
http://elviajeroatemporal.blogspot.gr/
He is now able to prepare all the technical stuff for a web radio show (live or recorded) with programs like Centova Cast,
Cool Edit Pro, Winamp, FTP Comander and others. Before the project, he had no idea about radio preparations. Also he can
command and conduct these shows by himself, using his voice and creating the topics:
https://www.facebook.com/usbngoradio/
Additionally now he can edit videos with the edition program Premier in advanced level. He edited, directed or wrote the script
in several videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/ngoUSB

Finally, Pau made a lot of reportage when he had to use the photo-camera, and he learn how to use it in a professional way.
4. INDIVIDUAL LEARNING OUTCOMES
- 4 -
LEARNING TO LEARN
Pau learned how to share his life with several people living in the same flat. Thanks to that, now it is able to be more flexible
and humble in his decisions. It was very important to him this experience, and now he is plenty able to work with others in
teams, as a leader or simple participant.
He had the opportunity to try new non-formal educational methods, using practicing as the main path to learn digital
competences, social competences or HR competences.
SOCIAL AND CIVIC COMPETENCES
He was volunteer in several organizations in help for the abandoned dogs in the city of Thessaloniki, volunteer in help for the
Syrian refugees in Thessaloniki, volunteer in a huge amount of events in the city: Thessaloniki Colour Festival, Thessaloniki
Greenwave Festival (working as a vegan cook in a vegan festival), Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Thessaloniki
International Documentary Festival,Taratsa Film Festival, Balkan Festival of Thessaloniki and some others.
He made a lot of contacts to raise social projects.
Became vegetarian and develop an interest for spreading vegetarianism in the city.
In Greece, he applied the tolerance he had for new cultures.
SENSE OF INITIATIVE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
During his EVS, Pau had the chance to head different projects, especially video ones. Regarding to that, now he is able to
organize his work and others´.
Moreover he started by himself a series of fabuls (story tales) about political and historical facts in Balkan countries. He created
and wrote the stories and other volunteers with talent in drawing collaborated in the project.
CULTURAL AWARENESS AND EXPRESSION
OTHER SPECIFIC SKILLS
Pau was fully adapted to his new life in Greece: the way of living in Thessaloniki was perfect for his rhythm and people´s
behaviors were similar to the ones in his original city. He felt very integrated and this is why he met a lot of people and made
a lot of friends who work in different NGOs or organizations, played in local music bands (Baidsa, Blues wire, for example)
or participated in social projects.
5. INDIVIDUAL LEARNING OUTCOMES
- 5 -
In his first week in Thessaloniki, he attended an event concerning to promote the Greek Traditional Dances. Besides, one
demonstration for the spread of Basque-Country language, the Korrika.
He was able to communicate basically with locals in Greek language, even he received job offers to work in Athens. He was
living with people from different countries (Turkey, France, Italy, Lithuania, Vietnam, Portugal, Spain, Ecuador, Mauricio Island,
Kenya...) and backgrounds, which made him be even more open-minded and be part of a big global family.
We confirm the mutual process of reflection during European Voluntary Service.
