1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,

44. Psalm 19:4b-6
He has set a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming

Its rising is from the end of the

And there is nothing hidden

45. The Law of the Lord is perfect
Reviving the soul/life.
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
Making wise the simple;
The precepts of the Lord right,
Rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
Enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean,
Enduring forever;
The rules of the Lord are true,
And righteous altogether.

drippings of the honeycomb;
Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
In keeping them is great reward! 19:7-11
46. Psalm 19:12-14
Who can discern his errors? Declare me
innocent from hidden faults.
Keep back your servant also from
presumptuous sins; let them not have
dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth and the
meditation of my heart be acceptable
in your sight, O LORD,
my rock and my redeemer.

there wrestled a man with him

and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh

55. Jonah rose up to flee;

of the Lord.
56. From the presence of the Lord

the ship was about to

60. And the Lord said, Go to

And Jonah cried out…
61. …the people of Nineveh believed
God, and proclaimed a fast…and
there was a decree proclaimed and
published by the King and nobles
saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd, nor flock, taste any thing: let
them not feed, nor drink water: but
let man and beast be covered with
sackcloth, and… Jonah 3:8
AND CRY MIGHTILY UNTO GOD.
62. And God saw their works, that they turned
from their evil way; and God relented of the
evil, that he said that he would do unto
them; and he did it not.
But it displeased Jonah exceedingly,
and he was very angry.
And he prayed unto the Lord, and said…I
knew you were a gracious God, and merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness, and
would change your mind of the evil you would
do to these wicked people. Therefore, take
my life!
63. Be angry, and do not
sin: do not let the sun
go down upon your
wrath, nor give place to
the devil.
Ephesians 4:26-27
Anger, anxiety, and anguish come from the same Latin
root angere, meaning to “choke,” or “to give pain by
pushing together.” The noun form is angustus, meaning
“narrow.” Anxiety and anger constricts and limits life.
64. Then said the Lord, Do you have good reason to
be angry?...And the Lord God prepared a gourd
to give Jonah protection from the sun.
Then God said to Jonah, “Do you have good
reason to be angry about the gourd?” And he
said, “I have good reason to be angry, even
unto to death.”
Selfishness leads to anger, prolonged
anger leads to depression, depression
removes hope, and a lack of hope
makes one ashamed, setting the stage
for a life filled with self-centeredness,
self-injury, or violent behavior.
65. God had prepared the
waves, the wind, the whale, a
worm, and even a wonderful
shade from the weather; God
prepared RESISTANCE AND
BLESSING for Jonah—to
help him to see the needs of
his own heart.
66. And should not I spare Nineveh,
that great city, wherein are more
than sixscore thousand persons
that cannot discern between their
right hand and their left hand;
and...
And also many cows?
68. Psalm 15
“O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your
holy hill?
The Psalmist now answers the question with ten specific requirements
for those who will abide in the presence of Yahweh:
1. He who walks blamelessly
2, Does what is right.
3. Speaks the truth in his heart
4. Does not slander with his tongue.
5.Does not take up a reproach against his friend.
6. In whose eyes a vile person is despised.
7. Honors those who fear the LORD.
8. Swears to his own hurt and does not change.
9. Does not put his money at interest.
10. Does not take a bribe against the innocent
The last sentence in Psalm 15 states that “He who does these things
shall never be moved.” As Psalm 14 paints a hopeless picture,
Psalm 15 breathes hope and security.
69. Ps. 15 “Who shall sojourn in your tent?”
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
Ps. 16 Refuge found in God—“You are my LORD.”
“in your presence forevermore.”
Ps. 17 God’s presence; Enemies surround me; deliver me;
Ps. 18 The LORD delivers; “great salvation”
“Anointed,” “Deliverance to king,”
Ps. 19 Creation speaks. Nothing can escape the influence of the
sun; appreciated only by the sensitive observer. (1-6)
The Word speaks. Nothing can escape its influence. (7-10)
As the soul is revived, wisdom gained, the heart made glad,
then the commandments of the Lord enlighten the eyes—and we
begin to see God and His glory. We enter His presence!
The Word warns and keeps us from hidden faults and deliberate
sins. Then the words of our mouth and the meditation of our
heart will be acceptable in His sight! (11-14)
Ps. 20 “Anointed,” “Deliver the king,” (9)
Ps. 21 The LORD delivers; “King rejoices.” (1) “salvation great”
Ps. 22 God’s presence; Evildoers encircle me; deliver me;
Ps. 23 Refuge found in God—“You are my Shepherd.”
“in the house of the Lord forever.”
Ps. 24 “Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?”
70. Resistance is Designed by God
In the day of prosperity rejoice;
in the day of adversity consider;
God has appointed both.
Ecc. 7:14
So what shall we do in the day of adversity?
Jonah 1:11
71. 11 When men strive together one with
another, and the wife of the one draweth
near for to deliver her husband out of the
hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth
forth her hand, and taketh him by the
secrets:
12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine
eye shall not pity her.
13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers
weights, a great and a small.
15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just
weight, a perfect and just measure shalt
thou have: that thy days may be
lengthened in the land which the LORD thy
God giveth thee.
Deuteronomy 25:11-15
72. Psalm 14
1 The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good.
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the
children of man, to see if there are any who
understand, who seek after God.
3 They have all turned aside; together they
have become corrupt; there is none who does
good, not even one.

TESTIMONY: BOOKS
Dear Mr. Hamby,
Writing has always been difficult for my daughter because of her dyslexia. After
hearing you speak to the graduating class in Lancaster, I purchased all fourteen
sets of Lamplighter books. Lately, I have noticed that her writing has changed.
The way she words her thoughts on every composition piece reminds me of
writings of people from way back in the 1800s. One day I asked her, “This
writing is good, Jen, how do you do this?”
Her answer amazed me, and you would have chuckled to see her. With
shoulders square and lifted, she stretched her 17-year-old, five-foot frame,
loftily tiled her nose to the sky, closed her eyes purposefully, and pressed her
fingertips deeply into her chest. With an unquestionable finality, she answered,
“I (and she tossed her head backward) read Lamplighter books!”
I showed Jen’s latest composition to her writing teacher. She, too, noticed the
change and became very enthusiastic about guiding Jen to develop this new
found talent. I have no doubt that Jen will take her writing places that no one
ever dreamed she had the ability to go. Thanks, Mr. Hamby!

TESTIMONY: BOOKS
Dear Mark:
I will tell you that my children love the lamplighter
books. Thursday, I had a day off from work and we
read most of The Little Lamb together on the couch. I
think I had intended to read a couple chapters, but the
children kept saying “another chapter, please!”, so we
kept reading. It was a wonderful relationship building
day. So, I see the immense value these books hold.
Anything that can keep a 5 year old daughter snuggled
by her daddy on the couch is a wonderful thing!

75. We received the order just this morning, and my son and I have
already read the Hedge of Thorns; we could not wait! We were so
pleased to find the story to be everything we have heard and read
about. What a blessing! Additionally, the embossed book covers
are exquisite! What a blessing Lamplighter is to all of the families
who want character-building literature for their children! Thanks to all
of the staff at Lamplighter for seeking and answering the need for
quality literature for the families of this country, when our country is so
aimlessly wandering further and further from the teachings of our
Great God. God bless everyone at Lamplighter Publishing!
Sincerely,
Colleen
