How to Get Rid of Neck Pain
When your neck is hurting, it really can put a damper on any physical activity you are trying to do.
Easing the pain becomes a priority for you and finding out how to get rid of neck pain is your ultimate goal.
There are several important steps to take in order to relieve your neck pain.  Three of those actions are provided here.
The three things you can do to get rid of neck pain are applying ice and heat, removing muscle imbalance, and neck pain therapy.
More detail is provided for each step in the following slides.
Ice and heat – This action is your immediate relief step.
If you have neck pain, immediate relief can be provided by applying ice if you have been actively using the muscles in your neck...
and placing some type of strain on them recently.
If you plan on doing something in the near future that will cause the muscles in your neck some strain,
loosen them up by applying some heat to that region.
Remove muscle imbalance – In many cases neck pain is the result of a muscle imbalance involving the muscles of the neck.
The muscles on one side of the neck can be in a weakened state
and the muscles on the other side of the neck have been overstretched and over worked
in order to accommodate the lack of support provided by the weakened muscles.
Identifying, then strengthening and stretching the appropriate muscles will help remove the imbalance.
This treatment involves more of a long term approach to healing.
However, it is most likely that a short term fix wouldn’t be available anyway if this issue is the cause of the pain in the first place.
However, committed work on this step is sure to provide long term relief.
Neck pain therapy – In severe cases or those where the condition has existed for awhile,
neck pain therapy would be your optimal solution.
Going to physical therapist and participating in physical therapy will allow for assistance to be provided in neck pain relief,
by way of direct manipulation of your neck muscles and spine if need be as well as massage therapy.
Hands-on care provided by a therapist can target “trigger points and works to remove them by...
massaging the muscle tissue, manipulating the spine, and giving exercises to help assist with muscle strengthening.
Posture also has an impact on neck pain issues.
Poor posture can be anticipated in someone whose normal sitting position has their chin and head pulled forward.
A physical therapist can identify those postural issues and help to correct them exercises that will help get rid of neck pain.
