Driverless cars can drive autonomously through the use of sensors, navigation systems, motion planning and control systems without human assistance. While the technology for driverless cars has advanced and universities have tested prototypes that can drive on roads up to 60km/h, fully optimizing the technology to operate safely without human intervention remains challenging. Most experts estimate that driverless cars will be possible and optimized for general public use between 2025 and 2030.
