There are plenty of free Central Florida
attractions for the entire family.
From beautiful outdoor activities to educational
experiences, visitors can be sure to have a fun
vacation on any budget.
3. Hollis Garden
Hollis Garden is located in
Lakeland, Florida along the
shores of Lake Mirror.
The garden has a number of
different paths which lead
to beautiful fountains.
The garden is free to visitors and is open year
round, but closed on Mondays.
Guided free tours available by
appointment.
4. Common Ground Playground
The Common Ground Inclusive
Playground is a unique type of
playground located near Lake
Hollingsworth in Lakeland,
Florida.
Children of all abilities are able
to play here and the park has
equipment designed especially for children in
wheelchairs.
There is no charge to use the park, but gazebos and
picnic facilities can be rented for
a small fee.
5. Candy Shops
Davidson of Dundee has been
featured on the Food Net work and
offers visitors the sweetest citrus
candies, jellies and marmalades.
Visitors can take a free tour any day of the week.
Webb’s Candy Shop is another
nationally recognized candy
shop. Webb’s is famous for their
goat milk fudge and citrus
candies. The tour allows visitors
to see how Webb’s Candy Shop
makes fudge, citrus candy,
peanut brittle
and more.
6. Barnett Family Park
This is a local favorite
and with good reason.
The park has a special
area for preschoolers
(Sunflower Preschool
Playground) and older
children have the opportunity to play nearby in
separate play structures.
The park also boasts a splash pad and numerous
picnic tables.
7. The L.B. Brown House
The L.B. Brown House is a
museum and architectural
wonder.
It was built by self-taught master carpenter
Lawrence B. Brown and is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places.
Today the home serves as a museum dedicated to
African American contributions to Florida history.
Each February, the L.B. Brown House
hosts the L.B. Brown festival.
8. The Mulberry
Phosphate Museum
The Mulberry Phosphate
Museum was designed with
kids in mind.
The museum is housed in
historic train boxcars and
teaches children about
history and science.
Kids can dig in the museum’s outdoor exhibit for
hidden treasures such as shark’s
teeth, fossils and more.
9. Lake Wales Arts Center
The Lake Wales
Arts Center
offers visitors a
number of things
to do in Central
Florida.
Visitors can view collections, attend
presentations or even take an art class at the
center.

LEGOLAND® Florida opens to
the public on October 15, 2011.
Florida schoolteachers can
register for a complimentary
Standard Annual Pass at
