Features of Red Tacton
Obstacles
4. HUMAN AREA NETWORK
• Interconnection of information technology devices within the range
of an individual person.
• HAN technology creates an external electric field that passes an
incredibly tiny current through the body.
• The current used is one-billionth of an amp
5. WHAT RED TACTON
AN INNOVATIVE NETWORK TECHNOLOGY
RED -> Warmth
TACTON ->Action Triggered By Touch
Developed by JAPANESE company NTT
Can transmit data over the surface of body at a speed of upto-10Mbps
Uses weak electric field on the surface of body to transmit data.
6. PRINCIPLE OF RED TACTON
Ea: ELECTRIC FIELD
induced towards the body
Eb: ELECTRIC FIELD
Induced from body
Ec: ELECTRIC FIELD
escaping from body to ground
Es: ELECTRIC FIELD that
reaches receiver i.e. ES=EA-
(EB+EC)

16. HUMAN SAFETY
• Transceiver ends are completely insulated
• Displacement current generated by electrons are present everywhere in
human body.
• Body is subjected to minute electric fields so such displacement currents
are common everyday occurrences.
• The current used 1 Nano amp which is lower than the natural currents
already in the body
17. OBSTACLES
• Needs a lot of research and development.
• Many popular technologies exist in the marketplace e.g.: Bluetooth
• Cost and time to develop Personal Area network technology is very
expensive
• This technology will not likely be very useful until a large number of
people and devices have adopted it which means a significant time
investment
• Touching a body in PAN could be as good or as bad as tapping into a
telephone line (therefore a security method using encryption should be
adopted that makes the PAN data look like a stream of random bits to
would-be eavesdroppers)
