4. The MBS
The Casino helps Singapore in her economic growth
because it has attracted a lot of foreigners and
Singaporeans to visit the Casino. Not only does it
generate income through gambling, it boosts tourism in
Singapore.
For unemployed workers in
Singapore, MBS has create job
opportunities for Singaporeans. The
workers will hence have a chance to
work to sustain their own living. The
system ‘Work for Reward, Reward
for Work’ is also used to encourage
workers to deliver the best quality of
their service and have a positive
attitude in their work.

5. When quality service is provided, it will bring
about an boost in tourism as well as consumerism
of the foreigners.

6. How has it helped Singapore to sustain
its growth?
• The government has anticipated
changes and stayed relevant as it has
made the necessary changes to
accommodate to the growing population
and to increase the quality of service to
have a place in the tourism industry in
the world.

people to visit it for its
beautiful scenery . It
also provides a
alternative for people to
visit MBS , where more
income could have been
generated ,

After visiting the Helix Bridge, they would most

probably visit the nearest shopping centre at
MBS. Many multi-national corporations such as
Chanel have chosen to settle there. It brings
about an increase in revenue earned when
tourists spend , hence boosting the
economy along with a boost in tourism .

Singapore government

The government improves its
infrastructures and attract foreign
investment which is important for
Singapore because it is heavily
dependent on the world for
economic development.

10. The Marina Barrage
Together with two other new reservoirs, the
Marina Reservoir has increased Singapore’s
water catchment from half to two-thirds of the
country’s land area.
The freshwater lake created has

3.acts as a tidal barrier to prevent flooding in low-lying
city areas, and keeps the water level consistent
4.offering a venue for water-based activities in the heart
of the city.

11. The Marina Barrage
Singapore has been very dependent on other country for water
resources. However, with the increase in water supply, it is
more sustainable now and can afford to spend more resources
in other areas such as education, which is also essential for
Singapore to remain competitive and sustainable.
•The Marina Barrage is the result of former Minister Mentor
Lee Kuan Yew’s vision nearly two decades ago when he
envisaged damming the mouth of the Marina Channel to
create a freshwater reservoir.
•Hence, not only does MBS displayed
the principle of anticipating changes
and stay relevant,
it also showed that leadership is key.

12. Eco friendly solar fan
• The eco-friendly solar fan is designed
to conserve energy, hence less
resources is used. In this current world,
resources is becoming more scarce,
hence the implementation of this fan
has demonstrated the government of
being relevant, always planning for the
future development.

13. In conclusion…
• Marina Bay Sands has demonstrated the 4 principles
of governance. It has various infrastructures and
programmes implemented and has helped Singapore
to overcome many challenges, such as water
shortage, unemployment and economic recession.
Hence, Marina Bay Sands is a model of how the 4
principles of Governance have been deployed to
sustain the growth in the 21st century. Lessons learnt
from this model can be applied into other areas too.
