9. Programs of FFSI Indigent premature babies are screened by Dr. Alvina Pauline D. Santiago for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). They undergo free argon laser surgery at The Medical City by Dr. Milagros H. Arroyo, Retina and Vitreous Specialist. In coordination with the Department of Ophthalmology of the Phil. General Hospital, we have provided Acrysof Intraocular Lens/Duovisc Gel bundles to Pediatric indigent patients who undergo cataract surgery at PGH. Prescription eyeglasses are also provided at nominal prices for indigent patients with errors of refraction (nearsighted, farsighted, presbyopia).

11. Programs of FFSI NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR SIGHT PRESERVATION (NCSP) A non-profit organization that coordinates efforts towards blindness prevention in the country. It is the implementing arm of Vision 2020 –The Right to Sight , a global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness by 2020 in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). The 5 preventable/treatable worldwide priority conditions are: cataract, refractive errors and low vision, childhood blindness, trachoma and onchocerciasis – river blindness in Africa. Vision 2020 Philippines – The Right to Sight – established to address the cataract backlog in the country by appointing Zonal Coordinators.
