New data from the country's 2011 census shows 59% of Indian households have a mobile phone. Only 47% have a toilet on the premises (and that includes pit latrines that don't use running water).

Also data shows increase in using mobile devices to mange their health care – refill Rx etc. More access to Wifi is increasing the ability to connect via mobile devices. Hot spots, city wifi, public spaces, libraries and general private access increasing. Mobile adoption picking up among women and older consumers – good sign and sign of further growth bc early adopters tends to be male adults followed by other groups. 1. Put simply, the new MDDS rule applies to medical devices or software that only collects, stores or transfers patient data. An example being an app that collects weight or other vital signs from plug-in peripherals and forwards that data to physicians.Before, devices and software that fell into this category were classified as “Class III,” meaning they were subject to the FDA’s lengthy approval process before being sold.
