2. 1. Don't hire your uncle
Let's face facts, finding a wedding videographer can be a
daunting process with many choices. It might be easy to give
your uncle or nephew a camera and tell them to go crazy.
Sadly you could end up with a view of your wedding as
though it was shot during an earth quake or no video at all,
because someone forgot to put in the tape and or memory
card.
3. 2. Contracts
Any serious professional will have a written contract.
Contracts are not just a good idea they are mandatory. Look
over the contract before signing and make sure it has your
best interest in mind. Make sure that the products you are
promised are included in the contract.
4. 3. Demo videos
Time after time I get calls from people shopping for
videography, but have no clue what my videos even look like.
Take time to research several videographers and what styles
you think best fit your personality.
5. 4. Experience
Before contacting a videographer write down questions you
have for them. Ask how long they have been creating
wedding videography, what education they have, and any
other qualifying questions. Experience and education is very
important in finding a good videographer. Their
professionalism will show, starting with their website down to
how they treat you on the phone.
6. 5. Cost
Hiring your family to shoot your wedding is cheaper, but will
be a disastrous mistake you cannot take back. Your wedding
video is an investment. Balance quality with cost when
looking for your perfect videographer.
7. 6. Your style
You know what you like, make sure you get just that. Tell your
videographer what you like and what you do not. If you do not
know what you like, do not worry, it will not be a problem for
an experience videographer. They will be able to get a feel for
what you like during the wedding and capture your style.
8. 7. Music
The music you pick will set the tone for your video. Pick
something that represents you and a song that is timeless. Be
careful not to pick a song that has a subject that is less than
desirable. Read the lyrics before considering any song even if
you have heard it a thousand times.
