2. What is a habit?
As part of existence whatever we do repeatedly is a habit
Either you acquire a habit or a habit acquires you
If you acquire a habit, it is in your control
If a habit acquires you, it controls you
When you choose a habit, you also choose the end result of
that habit
Good habits are difficult to acquire, but easy to live with
Bad habits are easy to acquire, but difficult to live with
Almost without exception, bad habits come slowly and
pleasantly and, in most instances, the habit has you before
you are aware you have it
Is it fair to become slave of habits instead of becoming their
master
e. g., a monkey does not leave nuts
3. It is up to you
To become helpless or to choose habits smartly
1. intelligence or understanding
2. will – choice, stimulus and response
3. action – verbal and non-verbal
Would you like to…
- make more money?
- enjoy life more?
- reduce fatigue?
- increase effectiveness?
- contribute more to society?
- enjoy better health?
- improve your relationships?
4. Discipline is also a habit
What is discipline?
What is an acceptable behavior?
What is an unacceptable behavior?
How would you develop acceptable
behavior?
Can you list some acceptable behaviors
that you would like to acquire?
What would be rewards of acceptable
behaviors?
5. You can do it
In your hands you hold the seed of failure
– or the potential for success
e.g., a little bird in hands of a boy
You are somewhere on the way because
you want to be there.
e.g., a balloon vendor and a boy
What you want to be – inferior or
successful?
e.g., a banyan tree and a bonsai
6. Acquire habit to use your
competence
Nobody is a successful doctor, engineer,
player, industrialist, artist, businessman…
by born
No mother gives birth of successful person,
she only gives birth of a baby boy or a baby
girl
Successful person does not born, of course,
successful person certainly dies
So between the birth and death, there is
something to choose – acquiring habits that
lead you to success
7. Use of competence gives
you success
Winner is the person who does not leave the battle
field and there is no bar for any cast, color or creed
for this
12th
March, 2006 at Johannesburg there was a one-
day cricket match between Australia and South
Africa
Australia won the toss and batted first, made a
huge score of 434 runs by 4 wickets
South Africa got win and made a history by making
438 run by 9 wicket in 49.5 over
8. The power of purpose
The power of purpose gives you the power of
acquiring the habit of getting success
Whatever have not done till now that is done today
and for that we have many evidences, but
whatever have not yet done, that will not be done
that we cannot say – we do not find any proof of
that
The direct relationship of confidence is the purpose
If you have any purpose in your life, if makes your
life significance – otherwise it would be a wood
floating here and there in the flowing water
If you have not any movement, you cannot make
any progress
Flowing water has its own direction
e.g., Terry Fox’s story
9. Three steps to complete
your purpose
1. Do not satisfied with whatever with
you today
2. Desire for the destination where you
want to reach
3. Positive estimate of what you will get
when you reach there
10. Answer these questions
What one of your behaviors is you
feel not acceptable?
How would you change this behavior
that turn it as acceptable?
What one purpose that you feel is
very important in your life?
How would you achieve it?
What one memorable thing that you
wish to gift your parents?
