2. Problem #25
In other words, the question is asking you to reflect the
point (2,9) firstly in the x-axis, and secondly in the y-axis.
The point (2, -9) and the point (2, 9) are mirror images of
each other in the x-axis (they are symmetrical about [with
respect to] the x-axis)
The point (-2,9) and the point (2,9) are mirror images of
each other in the y-axis.
The reflection about the origin means to reflect over x-axis
AND then reflect over the y-axis reflection.
(2,9) (2, -9) (-2, -9)
9. Problem #31
Make it “y equals”
Switch the x and the y
Multiply by -7 on both sides
Square both sides
Subtract 16 on both sides
Multiply by -1 on both sides
Square root both sides
11. Problem #32
Since this graph does not give you its function, you must
switch its “x” and “y” values
Graph 1 Graph 2
Original Inverse Original Inverse
(1,7) (7,1) (-1,3) (3,-1)
(2,6) (6,2) (-2,4) (4,-2)
A graph will be provided as a visual aid on the next slide
