HIS’ ICD-10 Resource Center
On October 1, 2014, the health care industry will be required to use the
ICD-10 code set to code all diagnosis and hospital inpatient procedures in
administrative transactions and for various other uses.
To answer your questions and provide additional education resources,
we’ve created an ICD-10 Resource Center, which includes resources,
blogs, and additional resource centers for you to access ICD-10
information.
Our Resource Center is constantly being updated. Please feel free to
reach out if you have any questions.

The administrator of the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS) now says the 2014 ICD-10 date
is firm, and there will absolutely be
no further delays in implementation
of the new billing codes. If medical
offices are not prepared by the
implementation date, they will lose
money. After that date, any claim
submitted using ICD-9 codes will be
rejected unpaid.
All medical practices will be affected by the change, but orthopedic
sections of the code have changed more than any other section. There
are measures orthopedic medical practices can take now in order to
make a seamless transition to ICD-10 billing.

An Update on the ICD-10 Implementation Timeline
October 1, 2014 may seem like a long
time for finishing preparations, but the
timeline for ICD-10 implementation
has already reached the point where
many practices should be moving
on to the next significant stage of
development.
While some may feel this is overly
aggressive, the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services suggests the
following ICD-10 Implementation Timeline.

Impact of ICD-10 on Healthcare
Revenue Cycle Management
In order to maximize the benefits
of the richer coding system, each
aspect of the medical operation
must be carefully examined to
ensure that it captures and uses
codes that accurately describe
all diagnoses and procedures.
Staff members for all segments
of the practice must realize
the need for accuracy to drive
patient services, data analysis
and care delivery as well as revenue cycle management.
