                                                                                                             Report Summary

STUDY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal in conducting this study was to assess and describe the current status of the worldwide energy efficiency (EE) industry for all
major technologies, and assess the potential growth of that industry. Specifically, the study's objectives were to: (1) summarize
existing EE technologies and promising emerging technologies that are under development; (2) evaluate the existing EE industry,
focused on producers of each major viable technology; and (3) assess market potential for EE technologies over a 5-year period, from
2009 through 2014.

THIS REPORT:
- Provides a synopsis of the worldwide market for energy efficiency technologies
- Contains global market forecasts through 2014 for distributed energy generation technologies
- Describes the importance of energy efficiency in meeting global climate change goals and optimizing energy use
- Discusses important manufacturers and factors influencing demand
- Reviews exceptional emerging technologies likely to be viable by 2014.

REASONS FOR DOING THE STUDY

Driven by the intensification and increased global awareness surrounding several energy-related issues, including energy cost and
security, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate change, air and water pollution, and other environmental and economic concerns,
worldwide interest in energy efficiency is quickly rising. The application of EE technologies represents one of several potential
solutions (others solutions include increasing renewable and fossil energy production, increasing pollution control and mitigation for
power generation, installing carbon capture and sequestration facilities, and other solutions) that are being widely implemented to
address these issues. In many situations, increased reliance on EE technologies will serve as a key component toward reaching
climate change, energy security, and environmental goals of political entities across the globe. This study assesses market
opportunities that will facilitate ongoing implementation of EE technologies around the world.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

This is a complete study of EE technologies; it includes relevant market and production information, technological descriptions and
issues, applications, market factors and potential, and an overview of supporting incentives and regulations in major worldwide
markets. Therefore, this study will be of interest to manufacturers of EE technologies, distributors, suppliers, and entrepreneurs and
entrepreneurial companies interested in entering or expanding into the EE technology sector. It will also be of interest to corporate
planners and strategists, large commercial and industrial energy consumers, energy market researchers, EE advocacy groups, and
other public and private-sector interest groups and market analysts.

SCOPE OF REPORT

The scope of this investigation includes only major viable EE technologies for the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors, as

Energy-Efficient Technologies: The Global Market Published on September 2009 Report Summary STUDY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The goal in conducting this study was to assess and describe the current status of the worldwide energy efficiency (EE) industry for all major technologies, and assess the potential growth of that industry. Specifically, the study's objectives were to: (1) summarize existing EE technologies and promising emerging technologies that are under development; (2) evaluate the existing EE industry, focused on producers of each major viable technology; and (3) assess market potential for EE technologies over a 5-year period, from 2009 through 2014. THIS REPORT: - Provides a synopsis of the worldwide market for energy efficiency technologies - Contains global market forecasts through 2014 for distributed energy generation technologies - Describes the importance of energy efficiency in meeting global climate change goals and optimizing energy use - Discusses important manufacturers and factors influencing demand - Reviews exceptional emerging technologies likely to be viable by 2014. REASONS FOR DOING THE STUDY Driven by the intensification and increased global awareness surrounding several energy-related issues, including energy cost and security, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, climate change, air and water pollution, and other environmental and economic concerns, worldwide interest in energy efficiency is quickly rising. The application of EE technologies represents one of several potential solutions (others solutions include increasing renewable and fossil energy production, increasing pollution control and mitigation for power generation, installing carbon capture and sequestration facilities, and other solutions) that are being widely implemented to address these issues. In many situations, increased reliance on EE technologies will serve as a key component toward reaching climate change, energy security, and environmental goals of political entities across the globe. This study assesses market opportunities that will facilitate ongoing implementation of EE technologies around the world. INTENDED AUDIENCE This is a complete study of EE technologies; it includes relevant market and production information, technological descriptions and issues, applications, market factors and potential, and an overview of supporting incentives and regulations in major worldwide markets. Therefore, this study will be of interest to manufacturers of EE technologies, distributors, suppliers, and entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial companies interested in entering or expanding into the EE technology sector. It will also be of interest to corporate planners and strategists, large commercial and industrial energy consumers, energy market researchers, EE advocacy groups, and other public and private-sector interest groups and market analysts. SCOPE OF REPORT The scope of this investigation includes only major viable EE technologies for the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors, as Energy-Efficient Technologies: The Global Market Page 1/21
