Duties
 Caring for patients who are suffering from illnesses, injures and diseases.
 Administering drugs, medication and injections to patients.
 Treating patients with respect and dignity, and giving attention to individual needs and
wishes.
 Maintaining high clinical standards and high levels of quality care delivery.
 Assess the patients, plans and implements care in HDU
 Preparation and administration of medication and fluids
 Provides advice and maintain associated records and carries out nursing procedures.
 Make patient aware of their treatment to ensure they are fully informed and consent to their
treatment.
 Ability to record 12 lead ECG, take sample from arterial access, IV cannulation, administration
of IV medications, demonstrate safe use of patient equipment including infusion devices.
 Care of isolated patients such as MRSA patients; TB, HBSAg; & HIV patients.
 Care of critically ill patients; head injured patient and care of wound.
 Assessment of GCS and RASS Score for CVA & head injured and ventilated patients.
 Care of unconscious patient and feeding
 Care of GI bleed, Headtrauma, pre & post operative patients and patient with ICTD.
 Effectively provided ventilator and tracheostomy care and maintanance.
 Interpretation of ECG changes, Blood gas analysis, Laboratory values and X-rays.
 Works well in stressful situations and able to response effectively to challenging situations and
competent in basic life support..
 Works within codes of practice and professional guidlines.
 Provide clinical supervision and managerial leadership to newlyqualified staffs and students
