PRESEASON EDITION
RED HOOK – The Raiders finished 11-5-1 last season, their season ending in
the Section Nine semifinals. This team bears watching this year. Coach Jason
Pavlich has something good going on in Red Hook, and he’ll return one of the
top midfielders in the Hudson Valley in Shannon Berg, who had 14 goals and
four assists last fall.
2. HS GIRLS SOCCER
POWER RANKINGS
PRESEASON EDITION
ARLINGTON – The Admirals were a bit up and down last season, though they
did advance to the Section One, Class AA quarterfinals. Arlington suffered
some tough losses – defender Dara Battistoni, midfielder Jenna Burke, to
name two – but the Admirals have a solid group of young players returning
who got a chance to get a year of varsity experience last fall.
3. HS GIRLS SOCCER
POWER RANKINGS
PRESEASON EDITION
JOHN JAY – The Patriots advanced to the Section One, Class AA quarterfinals
last year which, in and of itself, is pretty successful. Then again, this program
isn’t that far removed from consecutive state championships. Jay will miss its
top defender in Haley Thoma, but Corinne Burns is back to anchor the offense.
The senior had 11 goals and eight assists as a junior last year.
4. HS GIRLS SOCCER
POWER RANKINGS
PRESEASON EDITION
HALDANE – The Blue Devils made the best run out of any team last year,
winning the Section One, Class C championship and advancing all the way to
the state title game before losing. Goalie Cali Schweikhart has graduated, but
leading scorer Baily McCollum (16 goals) is back, as is last year’s freshman
sensation Missy Lisikatos.

SPACKENKILL – All they do over there in the town of Poughkeepsie under
coach Mike Corbett is win. The Spartans won their third consecutive Section
Nine, Class B championship before losing in the state regionals. Spackenkill
had some big, big losses, including Aislinn Speranza and her 25 goals, but
this is a program that reloads.
