3. The Quarrymen to The Beatles
In March 1957 John Lennon created a group called The Quarrymen with
some of his school friends. After meeting John Paul McCartney joined the
band and later invited George Harrison to join as well. John’s school
friends ended up leaving the group in 1960 and going off to study at
Liverpool College of Art. Stuart Sutcliffe joined the band in January 1960
and suggested that they change their name to The Beetles. They tried out
lots of names such as Johnny and the Moondogs, Long John and The
Beatels, but none of them were as good as the name The Beatles. They
were still without a drummer until Pete Best came along, he was then
later replaced by Ringo Starr as the manager had complained about Pete's
drumming. Stuart Sutcliffe unfortunately had to leave the band in April
1962 as he died of brain trauma. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George
Harrison, and Ringo Starr were the only remaining Beatles until the band
broke up in 1970.

10. Break-Up
The Beatles officially broke up in 1970, even though John Lennon
announced his departure to the rest of the group in August 1969.
Paul McCartney was the second to go, when he announced his
departure on April 10th 1970. On December 31st 1970 McCartney
made it official by filing a suit for the dissolution of The Beatles.
Legal disputes continued on after the break-up, and the disbanding
of partnership did not take effect until 1975.
The Beatles broke up because they were not enjoying themselves
anymore. Paul McCartney said “It was becoming a miserable
experience; I thought that it was the end of the road for all of us.
We were becoming unpleasant people- not just to ourselves as well
as to other people.”
