Maestro Tequilero believed they had over 365 competitors in Mexico.
Through careful analysis of category dynamics, we discovered that

13. Competition: Questions that helped us keep a tough
competitor at bay
DOVE was preparing to launch a skin care range in Mexico under the idea that they
had a single unique formula that redefiend the category.
However, we quickly turned this “advatage” on its tail by repositioning LUBRIDERM
(J&J) as the specialist brand that had a solution for every skin type.
DOVE creams never became a serious threat to Lubriderms leadership.

Often companies are focusing on the wrong benefit Is there another benefit we can explore? Companies sometimes over-estimate their benefit
A source of valuable insight – many great insights come from looking at competitors (not just consumers) Obvious things get overlooked We´re often amazed at how little clients know about the competition This is essential to effective positioning
These are the questions agnecies often ask first! We hope you can see why we ask them last Here are 10 questions – you can add more But ask these questionsabout your consumers and we are confident you´ll learn something new
