This presentation is about how Custom Tile by XThings helps nonprofits accomplish their missions by creating fundraising murals. It explains the process and has examples of murals we have done.
2. Who We Are
Started in 2006
Was originally a side project making tile murals and
accent tiles for homes and businesses
In 2009 a nonprofit approached us with the idea and in
2010 we did a few tile murals recognizing their donors
In 2013 a nonprofit consultant suggested we focus on
not only making murals for nonprofits but also on raising
the money for the nonprofits by getting sponsors for all
of the tiles
3. How It All Works
A nonprofit determines they need a certain amount of
money for something
That amount determines how big the mural will need to
be
For example, a nonprofit needs $50,000 to renovate part
of their building
That means we need to plan a 100 square feet mural,
composed of 100 12inch by 12inch tiles
4. How It All Works (continued)
We work with the nonprofit to raise $62,500
The money is collected by the nonprofit and then they
pay CustomTile
CustomTile does not directly collect any money
The nonprofit keeps at least 80% of the proceeds – in
our example $50,000
5. Some Examples
This mural was done for a Meals
onWheels.
In the Close-up shot on the next
slide you can barely make out
the sponsor names.
In the extreme close-up on the
slide after that you can easily see
the sponsor names.
8. Parent Teacher Organization
This mural is a photo mosaic.Tens of thousands of tiny pictures make up
the large one. Included is a close-up of one of the tiles.
14. What If We Don’t Raise All The
Money?
In our example the nonprofit needed $50,000 so we
needed to raise $62,500 to maintain the 80% kept by the
nonprofit that we want
If there was only enough interest to raise $50,000 we
resize the mural to 80 tiles instead of 100, reducing the
cost so the 80% is maintained
If more money is raised the mural size can be increased
or a second mural can be created
15. Designed to be Low Risk
Ways we have designed the process to be low risk:
Money goes directly to nonprofit and then they pay
CustomTile
Mural is scaled to amount of money raised to keep
80% of money going to the nonprofit
80% of money going to the nonprofit is VERY high
Many fundraising companies keep 50% of the money
raised.
