Food security bill
1.
2. "Food prices must be controlled, otherwise they have a tendency to
lead to manufacturing inflation. That will require monetary action
especially on the supply management side".
-Dr. C Rangarajan
3.
4. Food security refers to the availability of food and one's access to it.
A household is considered food-secure when its occupants do not live in
hunger or fear of starvation.
National Food Security Bill seeks to provide a legal entitlement to subsidized
food-grains to 75 percent of the country's rural population and 50 percent of
urban India.
The estimates suggest that 68 percent of the country's population would get
legal entitlement after the bill is enacted.

Now the exchequer will bear the burden of Rs 35000 Crores.
9. Food Security Act takes into consideration the following three important aspects:
Food Availability.
Food Access.
Food Absorption.
Food availability in the market depends on domestic production and imports
Food access depends on the purchasing power of Aam Aadmi.
Food absorption means the inclusion of required calorie-content micro and macro
nutrients in our daily food in-take and thereby enables the human body to fight against
deficiency diseases. The absorption of food in the body also depends on non-food factors
such as safe drinking water, environmental hygiene, primary health care and access to
toilets.

11. Not being harsh on the poor, the bulls of the slowly moving bullock cart
economy are the poor people who works the daily labour for making buildings,
roads, transportation, daily household helpers, miners, excavators, daily
cleaners and other form of labour such as labour for agricultural harvesting. If
they are ensured of proper food, then what is the need, that will drive the
economy ? This is just the form of communism that drove Russia to its current
state. Only this time the theory is even worse than communism. Govt. is
ensuring that they do not have to work for food.
12. If there are no workers, all the labour cost for available labour will go high
as they do not need to work, so if you need the workers then hire them at high
cost.
If there are no workers, lesser people will drive towards quality education as
they will have no need for uplifting. So, not only it will make the poor people lazy
but also drive them towards illiteracy.
13. Although the intention behind the policy is good, it has to be implemented
properly and effectively taking into consideration all the above mentioned
factors. Moreover Government should not use the bill just to gain popularity and
votes
