2. Our Chosen Song
S We have decided to ‘Archie Marry Me’ by
Alvvays for our music video as it is a typical
song of the Indie Rock genre which we feel can
be easily remade and created into something
original with our own interpretation. We will also
be able to relate our music video to the lyrics of
the song as it is heavily orientated around
marriage and love. This romantic, free spirit
convention is also typical of the Indie/Alternative
Rock genre. The overall tone of the song is very
happy and summery which will allow us to
convey a strong community feel in our music
video and also include some naturistic imagery.

6. Storyboard and Narrative
S The narrative story of our music video is not a specific
beginning-middle-end but rather two entwining scenes.
S The first scene is of an outdoors wedding between two men,
although one of the men is wearing a wedding dress. There will
be 10-15 guests, a priest and a minimalist set with chairs and a
cake as the only props.
S Our video’s second scene is a live performance of the wedding
band playing our chosen song “Archie, marry me”. The band
will feature two of the wedding guests and the newlywed
couple.
S We have decided to do this as our music video as it is relevant
to the lyrics of the song which are about marriage
10. Locations
S We want to film our video in a range of locations so we have a
diverse video throughout. Other music videos of this genre tend
to have more then one filming location and so we shall follow
this convention.
S We plan to film in a church setting (in a church) and a rural
setting (a field or woods).
S Both these locations are going to be used as they can be
associated with weddings. For instance the wedding will take
place in the field and churches are commonly associated with
marriage.
11. Locations
S We will film in a field located near to school so we are
able to get other students to act in our wedding as the
wedding guests or a nearby forest.
S We will film in the church near to Ruben his family knows
the vicar of Creaton and will allow us access in the
church to film with our instruments.
14. Props
For our music video to be successful and professional we
need to include props which are realistic and add to the
overall aesthetic of our video. As we are aiming to shoot a
minimalistic video in the style of a home video, we don’t
require many high-tech or high expense props. Due to
budgeting and the fact we’re going to have to spend a large
proportion of our budget on a wedding dress we are aiming
to source as many of our props as we can from our homes
and our sixth form. This will also be in conjuncture with the
overall ‘homemade’ tone our video will have.
15. Props
S Chairs x15: Our video requires seating for our outdoor wedding
and as we plan to have 15 ‘guests’ at the wedding. We will use
school chairs.
S Musical Instruments: We will need a whole band set up for our
music video to achieve the live performance aspect of the
video. This will include an electric guitar, a bass guitar, a drum
kit, a microphone and amplifiers.
S Cake: We will need a wedding cake to make the wedding more
realistic. We will also have miniature wedding figurines atop the
cake.
16. Actors
Ruben Clark: We will use
Ruben as the bride as
cross dressing subverts
the norm. This technique
is seen in many different
music videos of this
genre as it conveys a
carefree/free spirit
alternative attitude.
17. Actors
Sam Thompson: We will use
Sam as the groom at the
wedding. We have chosen
to do this because as Sam
has put towards writing
script and storyboard for the
project, he understands the
sort of acting and character
we are aiming for. In
addition to this as he is
heavily involved with the
project he will be able to
commit time to the filming of
our video.
19. Actors
Our additional actors will all be extras acting as guests at the wedding.
We will source these actors through asking our friends and peers at
Sixth Form. We have chosen to take this approach as it means that
transport for the extras to the filming locations will be simple and
cheap as both locations are just a few minutes from our Sixth Form.
Furthermore, by including our friends in our video we hope to create an
up-beat, warm location which will reflect the wedding scene we are
filming.
20. Costumes
The groom (Sam) will be dressed up
smartly in a traditional wedding suit,
complete with a white flower in his top
pocket. We have chosen this costume
as it is easily to visibly identify the
character as the groom due to the
traditional nature of his costume.
21. Costumes
The bride (Ruben) will be dressed up
smartly in a traditional white wedding
dress, complete with a white veil over
his face. We have chosen this costume
as it is easily to visibly identify the
character as the bride due to the
traditional nature of their costume.
22. Costumes
The bride (Ruben) will be dressed up
smartly in a traditional white wedding
dress, complete with a white veil over
his face. We have chosen this costume
as it is easily to visibly identify the
character as the bride due to the
traditional nature of their costume.
23. Possible Problems
S Lighting Problems: Keeping the scenes consistently
well-lit may be an issue as the outdoors scene is
obviously very dependent on the sun and the indoor
church scene features large stain glass windows
which let in a large amount of light. To address this
issue we will use special effects in post-production.
S Technical problems: There are no plug sockets or
electricity in the church (its well old) or in our
outdoors location so we will need to ensure that the
cameras have spare battery packs for the day of
filming
24. Crew
